The U.S. Census Bureau Reports That 2.6 Million More Americans Fell In To Poverty And The Number Of Americans Living In Poverty (46.2 Million) Reached The Highest Level On Record.“The nation's official poverty rate in 2010 was 15.1 percent, up from 14.3 percent in 2009 - the third consecutive annual increase in the poverty rate. The Number Of People Who Didn’t Work At All Last Year Increased To 86.7 Million. “Trudi Renwick, the bureau's chief of the Poverty Statistics Branch, says ‘the single most important factor’ in the increase in poverty might be the increase in the number of people who did not work at all last year.
