In light of the recent revelation Elizabeth Warren was listed as a “minority” faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania – especially when no conclusive evidence has surfaced proving she’s 1/36th Native American – it seems the Harvard professor is increasingly relying on the largesse of Hollywood’s rich and famous to save her floundering campaign.
A trio of Hollywood stars will host a fundraiser for Elizabeth Warren's (D) Senate campaign against Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.).Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and John Krasinksi — best known for his role as Jim on NBC's "The Office" — will join Warren on May 21 for an event in Santa Monica, Calif. All three actors grew up in Massachusetts.
The fundraiser will take place at the production company owned by film producer J.J. Abrams.
Two tickets to the event are being reserved for grassroots supporters, according to a fundraising pitch Warren's campaign sent to supporters on Friday. Those who donate $5 or more will have a chance at the tickets.
In the first three months of 2012, Elizabeth Warren took in more than twice as much as Senator Scott Brown in campaign contributions, a grand total of nearly $7 million. And since 64 percent of these donations trickled in from out of state, it’s perhaps not impossible to imagine where they came from. At the time, the Brown campaign amped up their efforts to paint the former consumer advocate as an elitist, an out-of-touch outsider deeply removed from the cares and concerns of the Massachusetts electorate. Now, however, I suspect her continued interactions with Hollywood celebrities is doing very little to bolster her image as a candidate of the people.
