Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) became the second Democrat to announce his support for President Trump's Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo Monday. He made his decision after sitting down with the nominee.
After meeting with Mike Pompeo, discussing his foreign policy perspectives, & considering his distinguished time as CIA Director & his exemplary career in public service, I will vote to confirm Mike Pompeo to be our next Secretary of State.

The first Democrat to signal support for Pompeo, Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, also represents a Trump supporting state, West Virginia.
Pompeo is expected to be confirmed this week when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell schedules the vote. But, he will hit a few snags along the way. For the first time since 1945, Pompeo is expected to lose the support of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders ripped Democrats for failing to support Pompeo, urging them to place their "political games" on hold for the sake of national security.
