Speaker Ryan Outlays Conservative Message to College Crowd

On Friday afternoon, Paul Ryan again visited a college campus to speak on the virtues of conservatism and limited government. The speaker was in his home state at the University of Wisconsin Madison giving remarks to a crowd organized by the local college Republicans.

Instead of speaking on the specifics of the current election, Ryan gave a broad commendation of small government, individualism, and innovation. He brought up specific examples of companies like Uber, Lyft, and AirBnB as innovative services that Clinton and like-minded liberals have targeted with red-tape legislation hindering their growth.

The 30-minute speech wasn’t just an adulation for small government. Ryan went on the offensive against Hillary Clinton and the dangers of a Democrat-controlled Congress. He rebuked her “liberal-progressive” philosophy and how it would further degrade our already-financially insolvent government programs, such as Medicare and Social Security.

One huge danger he warned of if Democrats retake control of the Senate: socialist Bernie Sanders would become Chairman of the Budget Committee.

The speaker then answered questions from the young audience before leaving.

The majority of the questions were from conservative-minded college students asking Ryan how to promote conservatism in a environment where liberalism runs thick. In response, the speaker repeatedly touted his Better Way agenda. Within the agenda fine print, it details the major policy goals the Republican Congress is working to implement.

During the whole appearance which lasted just shy of an hour – Ryan did not criticize Trump or make mention of his highly publicized feud with the Republican presidential nominee. In fact, Trump’s name was not even mentioned once.

Ryan has worked desperately for the public to focus on Republicans' policy work and not on the personal insults that have characterized this election.
