Trouble Rhymes with Carville

One of the most enduring songs from the 1957 Broadway musical, "The Music Man" is named "Trouble"

Trouble, oh we got trouble,
Right here in River City!
With a capital "T"
That rhymes with "P"
And that stands for Pool

Yesterday the Democrats had trouble with a capital "T" that rhymes with "C" and that stands for Carville.

As in James. As in my former back-door neighbor. As in husband to Mullfave Mary Matalin.

The James wrote an essay for CNN in which he stated it was time for President Obama to panic. I am not paraphrasing. He wrote that after thinking about the drubbing Obama and his fellow Democrats got in two special Congressional elections - one in Nevada and one in New York City, he wrote:

"What should the White House do now? One word came to mind: Panic."

The election win in Nevada would not normally have raised any eyebrows because it was in a Republican district. But the winner, former State Sen. Mark Amode1 won by a much larger margin than Sen. John McCain won that district in the Presidential election of 2008.

This is called "over performing."

That wasn't the big news. The big news was not just that the Congressional seat formerly held by Anthony "Not Sure If That's a Photo of my Tighty-Whiteys or Not" Weiner was won by a Republican for the first time in 90 years; it was that the Republican won easily and that the heavily orthodox Jewish voters in the district went for the Republican.

As Larry Sabato, University of Virginia professor of political science, correctly Tweeted after the results of the NY-9 special became obvious, it is dangerous to use special elections or polls as predictors of future events.

I replied, via Twitter, "Yes, but in both specials and polls it's better to come in first than to come in last."

In a segment on John King's CNN show last night, Carville and Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher got into it when Belcher pointed out that as bad as President Obama's poll numbers are, the Congress' numbers are worse.

James retorted, "But they keep electing Republicans!

Is it narcissism, a fuzzy feeling or what? How could a communications person say, as he did in this article, "that's why Obama is out there delivering his message." He's been doing just that daily since he took office. His message isn't resonating with the folk...they don't like it...the best thing Republicans can hope for is to have Obama out there campaigning on his record...of what he sees for America. People do hear his message...do hear him and that's the Democratic party's problem...Obama too!! It's just so odd to me that seeing Scoot Brown, in particular, winning and now Turner, why can't the obvious be so obvious to Democrats--especially a "communications specialist"...is an education nowadays that numbing?

For once, I agree with Carville, at least that Obama should fire people. Reality says he does not have one secretary, attorney general or czar that is worth even one dime, much less the millions they are receiving. The problem however, is that Obama still does not know these people are screwing up since he has no idea what they do or what they are suppose to be doing. Over two years we have been embroiled in amateur hour(s) in a manner consistent with the axiom of "the blind leading the blinder". Hopefully, Obama will just quit one day and totally disappear from the country entirely, as he brings no social or economical redeeming qualities to the table.

Many states have Spanish names, like Florida, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado to name a few. If the LEGAL citizens of one of those states want to mandate Spanish to be the official language; are they within their US Constitutional rights to do so?

I don't think the Constitution would outlaw any state voting to make Spanish the official language of any given state; still, I don't think any state would do so as it would create really bad press. A lot of companies would up and leave that state (and so would a lot of people who don't know Spanish). We do seem to be going bi-lingual.

His leftist message appeals to those who believe like he does that govt is the solution to everything wrong and the bigger the better

This same message turns off the right who understand that oput of control spending and more regulations by a larger and more inefficient govt is the problem and it must be cut back if we are to gain economic sanity.

Our problem is that mullah hussein never intended to be the president for America, he only wanted to please the left, the public sector unions and the special interests that exist because of govt handouts

Carville makes his money by getting Democrats elected, not by making sense. He no more cares about what is good for the country than the head of the Chinese Communist Party. He cares about the Democratic Party, because when they are on a role, he gets paid. I agree with that. I have heard people refer to Obama as a puppet of George Soros or some other dark conspiracy. His advisors seem to have come from a long-time acquaintances and his Chicago political cronies not from an outside source.

Carville's a jerk, but that doesn't mean he's stupid. So I'm surprised he thinks a shakeup would do any good for a prez who humbly, graciously admits he's the smartest guy in every room. Remember? He knows more about policy than anyone and he's a better speechwriter than his speechwriters. (Then why are they costing us half a mil per year? Fire 'em!) Heck, this prez could run the whole dang country by himself...except that he couldn't run a profittable lemonade stand in a heat wave.

But it is good to know that things are as bad as they are because this administration thinks the way that it does. Does this reflect the House or the still-Demmie Senate? Does this mean those polled want Congress to do more or quit screwing up, move policy conservative or leftist?
