The word “abortion” is nowhere found in the Constitution. Even the Left must admit the word isn’t in the document. So, they do some fancy step-dancing, and concoct some esoteric legal hocus-pocus to come up with a justification for what they want to do anyway. Leftists really couldn’t care less what the Constitution says, they only care about their right to practice any depraved lifestyle they choose without having to accept any consequences for it. Other people can pay the price.
The Supreme Court, last year in the Dobbs case, made the constitutionally valid decision. The 10th Amendment clearly states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Clear, right? Well, yeah, but no, especially to people who received their mis-education in the American government’s mis-education system.
The foundation idea of this country was that the states created the federal government, not visa-versa, Abraham Lincoln to the contrary notwithstanding. These several (13 at the time) states sacrificed to the national government certain powers which they believed the federal government could perform better than the individual states. In these cases, collective action would be superior to individual action. They thought it would be better, for example, for the federal government to oversee the post office than have 13 different postal services. Additionally, one monetary system was established for the entire Union, which, it was believed, would be superior to having 13 separate currencies. Another is giving Congress the power to declare war; you don’t want, for example, the state of Maine declaring war on Russia and dragging all the other states into it. So that is a power the states relinquished to the national government, the collective will. Things like that. There are only about 17 such powers given to Congress as enumerated in the original Constitution, and aborting unborn babies wasn’t among them. Read Article 1, Section 8. Presidential powers are even fewer and have absolutely nothing to do with making laws, except his right of veto, which was supposed to help prevent Congress from doing unconstitutional, tyrannical things. Like authorizing abortions.

The “right” of abortion, which the Founders probably never even thought about as they probably couldn’t imagine a civilized man and woman wanting to kill their unborn baby, is not a power the states would have given to the federal government even if they had thought about it. The states are closer to the people, thus the people can have more control over the state government than they can the national government. Actually, most power should be in the hands of local governments. How many of you readers know Joe Biden personally, or any Cabinet member, and have any influence over any of them? But, how many of you know your town mayor or some council or school board member? Chances are you might know some of these folks and can directly express your dissatisfaction to them. The closer the government is to the people, the more control the people (theoretically) have over it. That is EXACTLY why the Founding Fathers delegated very few, and mostly minor, powers to the federal government, and all other powers (which would have included abortion if they had thought about it) remained in the states. And that is EXACTLY why the Democratic Party is doing everything it can to undermine and destroy the Constitution today—to centralize more power in the hands of Washington, D.C. Power to the states or people (another word for “freedom”) takes away power from the Democratic Party, and that is one thing that sends Joe Biden into fits of frenzied screaming hysteria about Nazism and fascism. Even though Biden himself said, in 2006, abortion wasn’t a “right,” it was a “tragedy,” and should be “rare” and “limited.” But times change. The godless Left didn’t TOTALLY control the Democratic Party—and Joe Biden’s mouth—back then.
The Deep State in Washington has, by and large, and incrementally, succeeded during American history, in centralizing more and more power into their hands. Please read the Constitution sometime. You won’t find 99.9 percent of what Congress does today anywhere in that document (e.g., federal loans for student education. Please show that to me in the Constitution.). It could be argued that our current government, where so much of the power is now (unconstitutionally) centralized in the national government, is exactly what George, Tom, John, James and the rest of our forefathers rebelled against almost 250 years ago. Our government pays no more attention to our Constitution than the former Soviet Union did to theirs.
But, regardless, what Mr. Trump said about abortion being something that should be controlled at the state and “people” level is exactly correct—constitutionally. As noted, the Supreme Court, in the Dobbs case, got it right, and Mr. Trump is properly following their lead. Lindsey Graham (*sigh*) and others in Congress who want a federal involvement in abortion are—constitutionally—utterly in error. But again, our members of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, pay virtually no attention to what the Constitution actually says and means.
Thus, constitutionally, Mr. Trump is right. Now, the morality of abortion—THAT is another question and one I have no space to discuss here. But, just as it took awhile, after our Constitution was ratified, for the country to abolish slavery, we will not end the tragedy (Biden’s word) of abortion overnight. Not in the current decadent, immoral environment created and led by the godless Democratic Party.
Sometimes we must take a step at a time. Abortion in the hands of the states is not perfect, but it’s better than allowing a Deep State-controlled federal government to direct it. And, morality aside, it is what our Constitution authorizes. Mr. Trump is exactly right on this one.
