Will the Dems Dump Biden?

One of the most intriguing questions confronting Americans (and the world) in the upcoming Presidential campaign is, will the Democratic Party stick with Joe Biden or will they seek to replace him?  I have readers who say, “Lewis, you’re a moron, of course, they’ll dump him,” others who say, “Lewis, you’re a moron, of course, they won’t drop him,” and everything in between.  Nobody knows the future or what the Democratic Party will do.  The Republican Party brass, right now, needs to be forming contingency plans both ways (ha!), because it will be a different election with Biden and without him.

Biden is old; he will turn 82 on November 20.  Trump is no spring chicken, either; he will be 78 by election day.  But, unlike Trump, Biden is definitely showing his age.  He demonstrates signs of senility, even dementia, and it is probably worse than we see because, unquestionably, his wife and handlers are protecting him as much as possible.  But in his every action, Biden reveals he has become a bitter, childish, infantile old grouse.  Everyone can see it, though his strongest supporters will never admit it.  It appears that most American people would like another candidate, actually, two different candidates.  But it might be Biden vs. Trump.

The powers-that-be in the Democratic Party certainly recognize Biden’s mental failings, his gross unpopularity, and the fact that his presidency has been a miserable failure in nearly every respect.  There are definitely many “leading” Democrats who would very much like to have a new candidate.  And they might be successful in pressuring Biden to drop out.  I don’t know the answer to that; I’ll await developments like everybody else.

I know that Joe Biden, for all his weaknesses and incompetencies, is the President of the United States, which gives him enormous power.  Many influential people in Washington and around the country owe their positions of grift to Biden, and they will stick with him, come hell or high water.  That is the biggest obstacle the Democratic Party’s “dump Biden” contingent faces—the power of the incumbent.  Neither political party has removed a sitting President who wanted another term since the 1880s.  It’s almost impossible to do anymore.  Biden, because of his age, senility, and clear mediocrity as a human being, is an incredibly selfish, self-centered, power-hungry narcissist; he wants a second term (Jill certainly does).  He will be extremely difficult to unseat; make no mistake about that.  There probably is already a battle going on behind the scenes in the Democratic Party regarding who the nominee will be.  It will be a Titanic struggle, and currently, I’m at about 50-50 on who is going to win.  It’s a toss-up.  I lean towards the Dems getting rid of him, but I will not be the least bit surprised if Biden survives.  Remember Carter in 1980.  He had been horrible, too, but the Donkeys couldn’t get shuck off him.  Good luck to that cadre of Democrats who want a different tyrant.

But let’s assume, for the moment, that the Democratic Party leaders succeed in removing Biden.  Who, then, will be their nominee?  This is a conundrum they also encounter.

Kamala Harris?  Absolutely not.  She is recognizably more stupid, unpopular, and incompetent than Biden, and Democrats know it.  They will never turn to her.

Gavin Newsom?  He has a lean, hungry look and lusts for the White House.  He is attractive, slick (in other words, a liar), eloquent, photogenic, i.e., just the kind of candidate countless mind-empty Americans adulate.  The media will cover the disasters he and other Democrats have caused in California.  He’s a darling Democrat, and they will rush to him and swoon over him.  He could certainly end up being the nominee.

There is increasing talk about Michelle Obama replacing Biden.  She has plainly stated she doesn’t want the job, but there is no question that Barack does.  I’ve always thought Michelle wore the pants in that family, so it is distinctly possible that she will get her way and not run.  But I don’t know the Obamas, and Barack might be able to talk her into it.  I’ve read that she’s lazy and doesn’t want to work, but that’s just gossip.

If she IS the nominee, can she win?  Definitely, and for two reasons:

One, she isn’t Joe Biden.

And two, she isn’t Donald Trump.

I know many of you readers absolutely adore Trump and worship him.  But you MUST face reality and realize that the majority of American people can’t stand the man.  Of course, they don’t like Biden, either.  Americans would love to have a choice between two other candidates, but a Trump-Biden matchup is distinctly possible for reasons I have reiterated, time and time again, in my columns—the Deep State in Washington, D.C. is extremely powerful and, more often than not, gets what it wants.  It wants Trump at the head of the Republican Party ticket because it doesn’t think he can win the Presidency again.  They don’t really care who the Democrats nominate because a Democratic President is the lapdog of the Deep State and will always do what it tells him/her to do, viz., give it more power.

Most American people, who want anybody BUT Trump or Biden, may have little say in who the nominees are.  The Republican base, a distinct minority in the country, has been persuaded to nominate Trump.  He might even win the Presidency if the Democrats stick with Biden.  It will be decided by whom the American people hate the least.  If the Democrats can nominate a new face, that new face, almost regardless of whose it is, will win because that face won’t be Joe Biden’s or Donald Trump’s.  Whether we like it or not, that’s the way it is.

The $64 question is, can the Dems put a new face on the ticket?
