My lovely sister is like most liberals, she knows just enough to be dangerous to herself. She recently sent me a message from Florida, concerned about my well-being in Thailand. Apparently she had heard that Thailand had had “the hottest April/May in 200 years.” I’m curious where she obtained that information. Since official records go back less than 150 years, who made the determination she referred to? Al Gore, perhaps, he of the “there will be no ice at the North Pole by 2013” prediction.
My sister is a wonderful lady, but she has symptoms, like so many today, of a major American disease. She apparently just believes whatever floats in the ethereal from “mainstream” media sources, and that is sufficient, as long as her life is moderately peaceful and comfortable. But the “mainstream media” are demonstrably biased and untrustworthy, thus a person, to find the truth, must dig. That takes work. It’s hard, and if there is no substantial motivation or interest, most Americans drift along, not willing to make the effort to undercover what is really going on. CNN says climate change is happening, ABC urges taking the Covid booster, CBS opines racism is endemic...that’s good enough for countless folks, if they even care that much. And when the dam breaks, they will be totally shocked because they believed a lie, and the consequences of believing a lie can be severe indeed.
But that dam hasn’t broken yet in America. You and I see major cracks, but the torrent hasn’t been let loose. But we won’t be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again once he has his great fall.
Freedom is always in peril. The greatest danger is ignorance. James Madison’s words once more ring true: “The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.” And Karl Marx’s: “Keep people from their history and they are easily controlled.” And, “Take away a nation’s heritage and they are more easily persuaded.” When we lost the American education system, we lost the country. We will never restore America unless and until we re-capture that system. An empty-headed populace is the foundation of tyranny.
I have written previous columns discussing “political freedom” and “moral restraints” as they were intended by our Founding Fathers. Proving that the Left is currently trying to destroy both those things is our major task, and the biggest hurdle we face is people like my sweet sister who don’t know and don’t care enough to find out. “Friend,” the old joke goes, “don’t you think our country’s two greatest problems today are ignorance and apathy?” To which the response was, “I don’t know and I don’t care.” Leftism thrives in populations like that, and obviously is doing so.
Leftist philosophy—communism, socialism, atheism, Democratic Party, whatever manifestation one chooses—destroys lives. It preys upon ignorance and promotes resounding depravity. Men can become women, or become pregnant, or women can have penises—to believe such buffoonery isn’t just air-headed ignorance, it’s accepting a horrible, evil lie. Anybody who truly believes any of that has swallowed a monstrous falsehood. But the Nazis were right about one thing—the bigger the lie, the easier it is for some to believe it. Or, as Lenin said, “A lie told often enough becomes the truth.”
Some of the above, in isolation, might be relatively harmless; if a man wants to call himself a woman and wear women’s clothing, stick his belly out like he’s pregnant, i.e., make a clown of himself, etc., then he has a “right” to do that in a “free” society. We can’t always protect people from behaving foolishly and from their own folly and moral turpitude. But, the problem is, in America, it hasn’t stopped there, and it never will, and herein it becomes destructive. Now these deviants are allowed to prey on children, to mutilate and sexualize them. They must recruit because they can’t reproduce, and in their ignorance or depravity, they still grasp the diktat of Lenin: “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” This must stop.
But, with the Left it never stops. It CAN’T stop because there is no logical stopping place. If we let humans decide what morality is, then at which human’s morality do we draw the line? Yours? Mine? Hitler’s? Mao’s? And why? “Well, as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody else...” I might go along with that to a point, but it never ends there, either. It doesn’t stop with the man wanting to be a woman, he wants to enlist and mutilate children. It doesn’t stop with adultery; the woman gets pregnant and kills her baby. It doesn’t stop with Stalin or Mao running the country, they want to create a utopia, and to do that requires killing millions of innocents. Leftist morality never stops at the individual; it always infringes upon the rights of others, and destroys their hopes, dreams, and, too frequently, their lives. How many children have been hideously maimed, beyond repair for the rest of their lives, to satisfy a Leftist lie about human nature? The consequences of believing a lie are too often terrifying.
Racism is another example. We all want everyone treated equally. But the Left has used “racism” as a hammer to beat minorities, to convince them they can’t succeed in America, crushing countless dreams via the odious lie of “white supremacy.” The Left destroys whatever it touches. And too many Americans, listening only to CNN, are utterly unaware of what is happening. Or don’t care. Ignorance or apathy. Take your pick.
The great prophet Jeremiah wrote, 2500 years ago: “O Jehovah, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” 2500 years ago. Humanity still hasn’t learned that. Thus, multitudes are merrily following the Pied Piper of Leftism straight through the wide-open gates of hell.
