Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

When famed bank robber Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he said: "Because that's where the money is."

For the same reason, it is as predictable as the sunrise that medical care for the elderly will be cut back under a government-controlled medical system. Because that's where the money is.

My experience is probably not very different from that of many other people in their seventies. My medical expenses in the past year have been more than in the first 40 years of my life-- and I did not spend one night in a hospital all last year or go to an emergency room even once.

Culture of Corruption by Michelle Malkin FREE

Just the ordinary medical expenses of keeping an old geezer going along in good health are high. Throw in a medical emergency or two and the costs go through the roof.

So long as my insurance company and I are paying for it, it is nobody else's business what my medical expenses are. But once the government is involved, everything is their business.

It is not just a question of what the government will pay for. The logic of their collectivist thinking-- and the actual practice in some other countries with government-controlled health care-- is that you cannot even pay for some medical treatments with your own money, if the powers that be decide that "society" cannot let its resources be used that way, or that it would not be "social justice" for some people to have medical treatments that others cannot get, just because some people "happen to have money."

The medical care stampede is about much more than medical care, important as that is. It is part of a whole mindset of many on the left who have never reconciled themselves to an economic system in which how much people can withdraw from the resources of the nation depends on how much they have contributed to those resources.

Despite the cleverness of phrases about people who "happen to have money," very few people just happen to have money. Most people earned their money by supplying other people with goods or services that those people were willing to pay for.

Since it is their own money that they have earned, these people feel free to spend it to give their 80-year-old grandmother another year or two of life, or to pay for a hip replacement operation for their mom or dad, even If some medical "ethicist" might say that the resources of "society" would be better used to allow some 20-year-old to talk over his angst with a shrink. JM... The elderly and poor you are talking about are not refused healthcare. You need to be more informed. No one in this country is denied healthcare by law. Get with it. We are talking about scrapping a healthcare system that 80% of US citizens are happy with, and another 10% are not participating in because they are healthy and don't feel they need it.

HC Is The Takeover Of America!
Healthcare Reform under the Obama democratic liberal Bill is not about Healthcare. Healthcare is to help people live and get healthy, but this Reform Bill is about deathcare and withdrawing services and forcing employers and taxpayers to pay excessive taxation while the government plays doctor and determines who will live and who will die and who will receive care and who won't! I received an email from a attorney who says that Peter Fleckstein aka Flecman has posted some of his findings and every citizen should write their reps and send these findings to them and show up at Town Hall Meetings with them for the doubting Thomas's:
HC Pg 22 mandates the govt will audit books of all employers that self insure!
Pg 29, lines 4-16 - Your healthcare is rationed!
Pg. 30 Sec 123: There will be a govt committee that decides what treatments and benefits you get or not get
Pg 42: The Health Choice Commission (probably another Czar) will choose your HC benefits for you. You have no choice!
Pg. 50 Sect. 152: HC will be provided to all non US citizens, illegals or otherwise (refugees)
Pg 58 - Govt will have real time access to individuals financies & a national ID Healthcard will be issued.
Pg 59: govt will have direct access to your bank accounts for electronic fund transfers.
Pg 65 Sec 164: a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in Unions and Community Organizations (ACORN)
And, that's just a few listed on the website listing pages in the HC Bill that will change American forever from a free country into a controlled country because Americans voted for "CHANGE" and a man they didn't even know anything about! By the way, "CHANGE" in the Communesse-..English dictionary, 1972, says that "Change" to the communist means "to destroy." Be careful what you ask for because you just might get that and more!
