Say Goodbye to the Glowbama Mystique

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Barack Obama -- the self-anointed soul-fixing, nation-healing political Messiah -- has lost his glow. That is the takeaway from the beleaguered Democratic presidential candidate's "major" speech in Philadelphia yesterday.

For all of his supposedly unique and transcendent understanding of race in America, Obama's talk amounted to the same old, same old. The Glowbama mystique has gone the way of the Emperor's clothes. Instead of accountability, we got excuses. Instead of disavowal of demagoguery, we got whacked with the moral equivalence card. Instead of rejecting the Blame America mantra of left-wing black nationalism, we got more Blame Whitey. Same old, same old.

For two decades, Obama tethered himself to a fire-breathing pastor peddling bitter Marxist "black liberation theology" in the name of God. Behind the "audacity of hope" was a grievance-mongering preacher animated by the voracity of hate. And understand this: The Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama were not merely passing "associates." They were mentor and mentee, guru and student, with fates and fortunes intertwined.

For two decades, while using the church to build his Chicago power base and credibility in the black community, Obama turned a deaf ear to Wright's AIDS conspiracy theories, class warfare rants, anti-Israel, anti-white raves, and "God damn America" diatribes. These weren't occasional outbursts. They were the bread and butter of the Trinity United Church of Christ. Now, Obama blames "talk show hosts and conservative commentators" for exposing Wright's race-based rancor. Audacious, indeed.

On Friday, Obama attempted to minimize the extent to which he had been exposed to Wright's poisonous politicking on the pulpit. "None of these statements were ones that I had heard myself personally in the pews," he told Major Garrett of Fox News. "The other statements were ones that I just heard about while we were -- when they started being run on FOX and some of the other stations. And so they weren't things that I was familiar with."

Yesterday, Obama changed his tune: "I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Rev. Wright that have caused such controversy. For some, nagging questions remain. Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes."

The clever Sen. Obama has attempted to erect a firewall of protection from probing questions about which remarks he heard and tolerated and failed to object to while sitting in the pews. Dwelling on what he knew and where and when, he argued yesterday, would be "to simplify and stereotype and amplify the negative to the point that it distorts reality."

But it is Obama's pastor ("former" pastor, he is so quick to point out now, though he is a two-decade-long mentor) who holds a warped view of reality. And it is Obama who distorts the truth by likening this Ward Churchill of the United Church of Christ to an avuncular, yet lovable, family member who cannot easily be renounced:

"I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother -- a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe."

Glad to know something made Obama cringe.

Even as he denied that he was justifying and excusing Wright's demagoguery, Obama was doing just that by invoking slavery, Jim Crow, segregated schools, violence in the inner city and, yes, denial of access to FHA mortgages, to explain how we get to Wright spewing "God damn America" on Sunday morning.

"These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love," Obama declared rather stiffly as he stood self-consciously in front of more American flags that he has ever been placed in front of this campaign season.

Well, you can't pick your grandma, but you can pick your pastor. And Obama picked the wrong one if he aspires to be the president of all America -- an America that includes citizens of all colors who cringe at self-serving racial rationalizations masquerading as moral salvation.

Maybe he doesnt really go to church much
Maybe he's an Easter & Christmas kinda guy.
He just needed to play up his deep faith to counter the worries of Muslim leanings because of his middle name.
Maybe he really didn't know what Wright preached, because he just didn't go much.

Good article Michelle
It just goes to show you that the more things change the more they stay the same....

Obama = more of staying the same.

But that doesn't mean I hope there isn't a brokered convention. I am looking forward to Al Sharpton and his demonstrations that he has promised us.

And I kind of like seeing the democratic party imploding right before our very eyes.

I have heard they shipped the Rev Wright off to Africa. I do not know if this is true or not. But one can only hope it was a one way ticket to the Congo.

And why is that "place" still referred to as a church? Isn't more like a community gathering place for "I Hate Whitey" stump speeches that is also afforded the luxury of being tax exempt?

Like I said, I can't wait for the DNC convention in Denver. Heck, I might even watch some of it on TV just for the entertainment value.

Excellent Article Michelle
And right on point. Obama's "denial" speech was nothing but shallow political speak trying to get himself out of a jam of his own making.

Maybe now all of the sycophants that have been blindly following him and saoking up anything he said without ever thinking it thru will see him as the fraud, phony, and now the RACIST that he really is.

Yeah, Nos Nevets, sure
And maybe the sun will come up in the north and set in the south for the rest of the year too.

Charlie S
Obama = racist.

Who'd thunk it.
And you would have thought those "sermons" would have made Michelle Obama proud, no?

Now it's time for all the anchor baby remarks to come out....

Where are you at TR? Sophie? Lilly? Wobbie the Wet Pilot?

Nos Nevets
Yeah right.

He WAS his spiritual mentor wasn't he.

I hope you were being sarcastic and not an apologist.

If you were being an apologist, then it didn't work. You can't have a spiritual mentor for 20 years and not know what they "preach."

Michelle, once again you nailed it.
Obama has proven to me beyond all doubt that he's just another base politician with bad judgment, and one not particularly good at covering his tracks.

If he wanted a little truth in advertising, he should change his campaign slogan to Change We Can't Believe In.

5 Stars Michelle
Conservatives have known Obama was an empty suit for ages. Now the whole world sees him for the classic fast talking liberal politician he really is.

It's extremely satisfying to see the "Post Racial" candidate revealed as a polished up version of Al Sharpton.

Ah, delicious Irony.

To What End?
Great comments, Michelle. To people who would never have voted for Obama anyway, the Wright affair has been a great revelation. But the Obama Cool-aiders will revel in yet again another "inspiring" speech. It will be interesting to see how the Obamas' close association with Wright and his black liberation theology affect the voters in the middle, whom any winner of the general election needs.

I predict that if Obama is indeed the Dem candidate, there will be many patriotic good-old-boy Democrats and independents who will happily vote for McCain, whose patriot bona fides are not in question.

wow, no trolls yet?
I can't believe some idiot hasn't come by to call Michelle vile names because they're not intelligent enough to actually come up with a valid argument.

Oh well I'm sure they'll be along shortly, they're drawn to malkin, coulter, limbaugh et al like ants to a picnic.

At least ants serve a useful purpose on the planet.......

Obama's Speech is Nonsense
Obama tries to claim he knew nothing of Wright's racist sermons, then Obama admits he knew about them but tries to give the sermons some kind of context. The only context regarding Obama is that he is a hypocrite. What I find disconcerting in all this is that Obama's daughters are being raised in this unhinged church. If a father who seems to be so concerned about his children's upbringing can leave his children under the tutelage of such a racist church, it is difficult to believe Obama did not himself agree with the views espoused by the pastor and the congregation. If Obama were truly offended and thought the sermons were wrong, he would certainly not want his children inculcated in wrong-headed thinking and would have left the church. One only needs to look beyond on the surface of this situation to see that Obama is full of horse-hockey.

Wright
led him to Jesus Christ so Obama says. Which Jesus? The Jesus I know said love one another.
Obviously the good pastor didn't disciple Obama as to what it means to be a committed Christian and walk the narrow path because the good pastor seems incapable of it himself. He is teaching his congregation hate, hate is a sin akin to murder so he's leading his flock into sin and
some day he's going to have to answer for every word he's said. Christianity isn't joining a church, its a relationship. One thing for sure, Wright's hate is not a good witness for Christ.

I agree K.G.
""I predict that if Obama is indeed the Dem candidate, there will be many patriotic good-old-boy Democrats and independents who will happily vote for McCain, whose patriot bona fides are not in question.""

The democrat punchout is creating new republicans every day.

Of course even if McCain wins, we still get Dem-lite.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Nos Nevets
Nice post, second or third time I've read your drivel on different posts, proving you are, indeed a brainless troll.

K.G.
You are so right.

Just take a look at Will's post at 12:41 post on Sowell's thread.

You'd think Obama's speech was the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't worry, he'll be over here posting about gay rights sooner or later.

obama man and his speech of lies
JUST A BIG FAKE, thats what he is! is all he did was to change rev. wrights words. he can't lie any more for people are (hope) finally opening up their eyes and seeing him for what he is(MUSLIM)

Trolls?
It is a bit past their bed-times.

Obama insults Michigan voters
B. Hussein Obama, the "civil rights" advocate has now worked to stop re-votes in Michigan and Florida, because he obviously fears Hillary might win again in those two states.

This shameless shyster doesn't mind one bit accepting a nomination from only 48 of 50 states.

Is there no depth to which this charlatan will stoop?

Good luck Hussein: you will need it in November if you swindle the millions of voters in two of the largest states. You damnable hypocrite!!

How do we stop Hussein?

Well first, don’t bash Hillary now. Instead, help her defeat Obama-then use our
ammo on Hillary in the general.

So, hold you fire, *smart* conservatives:

We need to stop Hussein Obama in the Dem primary-and not risk McCain defeating him in the general-although McCain could win, McCain doesn’t match up well against Obama:

McCain is gruff and doesn’t exactly give people warm fuzzies. And when placed next to smooth talking, Obama, McCain has real problems.

But on the other hand, McCain when placed next to Hillary, who also isn't people friendly, McCain can beat her on national security, and she can't counter with feel good oratory and warm fuzzies-like Hussein.

We must boost and uplift Hillary NOW, and save the hate Hillary rhetoric for the general election-if we
are successful in stopping Obama in the dem primary.

Hillary will be much easier for McCain to defeat than warm and friendly Hussein "change" and "unity" Obama.

plus if Hill gets the nomination, black voters will pout and stay home-insuring a GOP victory of large margin and a possible take back of the House and Senate.

So, in instead of posting hate Hillary stuff, let's all play up the glaring hypocrisy of Obama's supporters today for opposing and thus dooming a re-vote in Michigan.

Shame on Hussein for deliberately working to disenfranchise millions of Michigan voters.

I Listened to Obama's Speech
While he is definitely an excellent orator, the thing I came away with from his speech is that somehow I had caused the Rev. Wright to be this way. He didn't say these exact words, but I am pretty sure he said that blacks are still picked on and that is why Rev. Wright gets so "rough". Also, somehow because my grandparents weren't perfect in race relations now I am the problem.

So, the question is this: If African-Americans are still being discriminated against, how is it that they have the power to destroy companies and individuals by the mere charge of racism? If I were African-American I could only hope that some restaurant told me to leave or refused to seat me. I just tell them I'm going to the news media and that pretty soon we'll all be getting to know Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. I could also plan on pocketing a significant sum of money.

I would love to have many African-American friends. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't get the feeling they are too interested in having me, or other white people, as friends. How could they want to do that after listening to Rev. Wright?

Obama insults Michigan and Florida too

It was 1984 when
Obama's mentor, Mr Wright (cannot bear to call him a preacher) went to Libya with Luis Farrakhan to visit with chief world terrorist of that day,
Col. Muammar Abu Minyar al-QADHAFI

Who at least has been smart enough to get an attitude adjustment.
But just after this is when Obama joined Wrights group of separatists, and America hating racists.

About the time Ronald Reagan bombed and adjusted al-QADHAFI's attitude.

"So, hold you fire, *smart* conservatives:"

I think you have the wrong website.

Obama is an outright racist
Barack's non-apology
...It is not good enough to say that Obama disapproved of some of the things his racist minister preached.

Reverend Wright worships Louis Farrakan, thinks white people are the devil, and hates America. Why should Caucasian people vote for him?

Pinch your nose people and vote for McCain.

Obama: the Manchurian candidate
A racist who pretends to transcendent racism.

I think it is not to far fetch to conclude that deep inside Obama is a racist. But he knows that if he expressed it openly, the farthest he could achieve in his poltical aspiration is the level of Al Sharpton.

I have a "guru" or mentor for five years, and to a large extent, we have commonalities in outlook and principles. I think this is common everywhere. Otherwise, the guru-pupil relationship is completely meaningless. For Obama to say that he does not share his guru's view of the racial relationship is an absolute lie. But then again, he didn't do that in his speech. In fact, if you listened to his speech or read it somwhere, he indirectly exposed himself to be a racist.

O'Vomit's speech
was just like all of his other speeches. It was 90% rhetoric and 10 substance. That meager 10% really said whitey just will have to live with racist rhetoric from black churches because whitey deserves it.

This is what you get when you allow the news media to select your candidates.

GP, are you saying you think Obama is easier to beat than Hillary, so we should sit back and let Obama be the nominee against McCain?

if not, please elaborate.

@Great Patriot #2
disregard my previous post-after readin again, I think I now understand where you are coming from. (I don't usually catch sarcasm on the first reading.)

Michelle
I truly pray for your awakening into the prestigeous field of documental writing.

You must meet the grade. And you will, once you invite God's lessons into your humble heart.

Your shrill will face awful trials until you align yourself with His course of action.

You are on slippery sand. Mark my warning. So that you won't think on it when you fall.

The *Race* for the White House

Should race play a part in the Presidential election process?

I would normally say no: but when one of the leading candidates attends a hate-filled racist church, then the subject is important.

Let us suppose for argument's sake that Obama had no idea that Pastor Wright had such offensive ideas, and that he had never heard such things expressed at the pulpit where he attended church for over 20 years.

I know, I know, it does not pass the laugh test.

But let us take him at his word and believe that he never heard it before. The only possible explanation is that he was probably not paying attention.

It is very likely that Obama, highly aware that he seemed "too white," decided to change his image by attending such a church.

But Barak should have been paying attention, and when he realized the vitriol that was issuing forth from the pulpit, he should have high-tailed it out of there.

Staying there was just as stupid as the girl who lets her smarmy boyfriend take pictures of her "just for him," and later is chagrined to find them posted on the internet.

"...animated by the voracity of hate."
Pot, meet Kettle.

Oz redux
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain! Obama lied when he said he couldn't disown his white grandmother - he disowned her the day he chose Wright's racist church. We've already seen how 20 years of Wright's hate speech poisoned the mind of Michelle Obama. One can only pity Obama's kids, whose innocence was sacrificed in Obama's quest to build "street cred" on Chicago's south side.

Interesting omission that Obama didn't claim he couldn't disown his white mother.

Anyone else out there notice that Obama's "inspiring oratory" and "flowing cadences" desert him when he's not reading canned lines off a TelePrompter? His failure to take questions after his speech also shows him to be (not surprisingly) a coward as well.

Nellie- I know it is late
but I think you should go back and re-read what you wrote. It doesn't make any sense.

Nellie
I just read a post from you to me on another thread. You said you would pray for my understanding of BHO's "predicament".(Quotations are my description).

Prayers are always needed,I will admit. However, you should pray that this revelation of Wright's hate-speech has not forever damaged race relations, beyond repair.

You may be accustomed to hearing this type of rage in your church, but believe it does NOT happen in all churches. It just would not and does not.

I have read lately, insinuations about presumed "hate-speech" by Falwell,Robertson, and others.I think the meaning of their words are this, from CH.7;14.."If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,and will heal their land."

Does Obama realknow why Blacks are Angry
We are a land of immigrants. All of my ancesters came over from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark in the 1880's or later. I do not think that I am unique. I want all people to succeed.

Question for Obama - How do I fit into your pastor's map of the world? How do I fit into yours?

Does it matter who my ancestors are? If not, then why do you speak of the past and the mistakes made by people who are now dead and buried?

Obama's speech
While Oprah is the the richest woman--not black woman-- but single richest woman in America; questions of race disappear.

Disloyal Obama
In his quest for power, Obama has betrayed someone who helped raise him, "who sacrificed again and again for me," someone "who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world." He reveals something she said to him in private, an admission of vulnerability to a family member she trusted. Her comment about fearing some black men who pass her on the street, is shared by other women, black and white, as well as other men, including Rev. Jesse Jackson, who reportedly expressed his wish that some men following him on a street at night be not "brothers," because of his fear of their potential violence.

Obama states her private comments of vulnerability made him "cringe," but not the public expressions of hate and satisfaction of violence towards whites expressed by his mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. He excuses Wright's aggressive public hate, but is unable to have any sympathy for his white grandmother (who didn't abandon him like his black father), his racial prejudice blinding him to the behavior of enough black men toward white and other women to cause fear.

Little did she, who sacrificed and loved so much, know she would be used in such a way by her selfish, self-centered and racially superior (anything blacks do is right; any complaint a white expresses is racist) grandson.

And what hypocrisy! As if Obama in private has not expressed stereotypes of all sorts of people. I have been in many all black groups, family and otherwise, where stereotypical comments and racial hostility against whites and other groups were freely expressed by educated, nice people. Things are said in private to let off steam and to express truths not appropriate for public consumption.

Leave your grandmother alone, Obama, you ungrateful wretch.

Just what per cent
of black folks in America really believe Jeremiah Wright is speaking truth? The blacks who attend my church? Not a chance. The black folks i work with? Very possible. Circumstance puts a lot of pressure on blacks and they become very socially sophisticated as a result. They can both hide and express their feelings very clearly, but in such a way as to avoid repercussions. They can make you feel welcome, or as an intruder, and very smoothly. One of Sean Hannity's callers the other day invited him to join a service at Trinity Church. My guess is he would be made to feel welcome, in acknowlegement of his reaching out. Like everyone else, black people are quite capable of disliking one's politics, but extending hospitality and civil treatment on a personal basis. It is still a question as to what they believe of whites in general, and just how pervasive the ideas and attitude of Wright are at the grass roots level.

What viper like words by this lady
I declare that Ronald Reagan stands in condemnation of such fiery words while speaking of someone she does not agree with! I hope that she can sleep well should she be a Christian. I am just glad that Almighty God was able to look beyoun man Saul of Tarsus, hence the greatest man for good was borne. I wish she could be as good in telling how necessary man Ron Paul is for America, as opposed to McCain who to me, is nothing but sort of a refried Hitler, with dreams to keep shooting and shooting; in essence on the way to self-destruction; most certainly like all previous Empires.

WOW
What did I say at least a month ago? This imposter of hope will implode and his whole run would go down in flames. I thought it would be over his idiot wife spouting off but then the MM glossed it over and let it pass and also gave him a pass. This radical mentor of the great messenger of hope defines exactly who they both are and who and why the pupil is in the presidential race.

On a sad note. Its to bad that we have a candidate on the Republican side who will not or can not bring himself to capitalize on the spotlight being shown on just who and what his opponent is. McCain said that he wants this to be a clean and fair race. Will Big John I know you did not do to good at the Naval academe but I am sure you do remember the lesson on not under estimating your enemy and taking full advantage of a weakened foe.

I have also read about three posts from the Moveon crowd and like always they are weak minded in their discours. Oh and you cretins surely know who you are. Go Away Please.

M.M. defines the lefts hypocrisy again.
Oh and great article Michelle Malkin. Time and again you prove that you are a powerhouse of the conservative movement. Thank you for your steadfast vigilance and example to us all.

Michelle
this is called Romancing the Stones! Or in this case, the rocks!

Obambi's Quote:

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it."
-- Barack Obama

How ironic!

osama obama
Question : Was Osama Obama lying ?

Answer : Was his lips moving ?

Obama's excuse
The great left hope's so called explanation of why he associates with known black radical preachers and terrorist weathermen was just the blame card and race card all in one very well written and rehearsed diatribe of poor excuses for poor judgment. He has chosen to play the race card and blame card instead of coming clean and that will be his downfall and the original Democrats are slowly waking up to the fact that the party has left them behind for the far left Socialistic ideology once and for all and they will flock to the Republican party in droves because that party has become more and more like the one they knew as the old Democratic party. The Independents who thought or were more rightly hoodwinked by this silver-tongued devil in a five hundred dollar suit will also gravitate to the other side or stay home. The only thing that this scandal has proven is that the grass roots of the black communities is still deeply caught up in a culture of hate and fear of their fellow countrymen of a different color.
Get over it people, you have everything going for you in this country if you can just break free from those that would really keep you down and in poverty and despair for their own gain. Examples are
Jesse Jackson
Al Sharpton
Democratic Party
Black National Caucus
NAACP
Southern Poverty Law Center
ACLU
New Black Panthers, and the list go on and on and on and on.

One of the best
articles I've read regarding Obama's position, his speech, and his mentor and Pastor Rev. Wright.

I really believe Wright's views kind of blind-sided Obama. He has surrounded himself with people who are so far left and anti-American, they buy everything Wright has preached - white and black alike.

The American reaction to Wright's sermons stunned Obama. Doesn't everyone believe like this? It certainly cements Michelle Obama's statements.

I mean really, if Obama believed Wright's statements were so outrageous as he portends them to be, would he have put Wright on his Advisory committee? Would he have assigned Wright a high personal place as his mentor?

Of course not. Which is why Obama is a flaming liberal who has believed and supported Wright's views for 20 years.

In that light, CHANGE, can be a very dangerous thing.

How many Obama's do you know
Self-anointed? Halo and glow? That's the media's description of Obama and the media's alone. In none of Obama's speeches does he speak like there's a halo above his head. The glow, the halo, the political Messiah are all terms used to attack Obama, for one purpose and one purpose alone. Hillary Clinton. Obama's moving too fast, Hillary's campaign can't keep up. How do we stop him. Opportunity knocks and out jumps Reverend Wright into talk radio and Fox's lap. The scheme is now to create a racist and anti American out of Obama to create as much doubt as possible in the minds of the voters. Why? For one purpose and one purpose only. Hillary Clinton. Keep the questions coming. Keep Obama off of his campaign mode and challenge why he didn't leave the Reverend's church if he knew the Reverend was a racist and anti American. Why go through all the trouble. For one purpose and one purpose only. Hillary Clinton. Demand that Obama reject and denounce Reverend Wright's racist comments and anti American rhetoric. Hound Obama daily with more questions, and more questions, never being satified with the questions answered. Why? For one purpose and one purpose only. Hillary Clinton. Drag Trinity United Church through the mud along with Obama to make it look like the Reverend was a bigger problem with his teaching of racism and anti American rhetoric. Why? For one purpose and one purpose only. Hillary Clinton. Obama, Trinity United Church, Reverend Wright (who will be completely forgotten after the elections are over with)Obama's children, Obama's wife, and Obama's nomination are expendable when it comes pleasing Hillary, and getting Hillary the nomination. How will Hillary react to this kindness from Conservative talk radio and Fox if she gets the nomination, and wins the Presidency. She will disown Right Wing talk radio and Fox in the same way talk radio and Fox wanted Obama to disown Reverend Wright. Suckers.

I know that I wasn't the only one who

has referred to BHO as an "Elmer Gantry!"

I didn't have a chance to "see" or "hear" BHO give his speech, so I read it... or most of it.

While there is not doubt that BHO is a charismatic and theatrical speaker, but to find out IF there is any truth or substance to his speech, I suggest reading it...

Only then can you eliminate the theatrics and get to the core of what was actually said...

Michelle hit the nail on the head once again!

watching shiny objects
After I have watched parts of and all of The Speech of the Century(atleast according to Chris Matthews of MSNBC). I am still a little confused. Why was the man standing in front of six, count them, six US flags? Is it that he needed the flags to reinforce the fact that he is American? Could it have been that the flags along with "Grandmother" would give him alittle of the illusion of respect for the country that allows his mentor spew the kind of hate he does and live? If America is not the shining light on the hill most of us think it is, why is this man trying to become it's leader. If his wife is not proud of America why does she want to be the First Lady? I will have to keep reading this column for some answers as Ms. Malkin is one of the few with the insight and courage to give us the whole picture. Now back to watching shiny objects turn in the breeze like our Man from Chicago would have us all do.

half white
Why is it the half black/half white people that are such racists? Look at 'Adolf Hitler' Wright....he is almost 2/3's white. How about Hally Berry with her white mother and deserted by her black father....she rants at the academy awards of her proud black heritage. And never mentions her mother who sacrificed for her. I know what it is, its the white in them that make them racists.....since all whites are racists according to the mantra. It is all whitey's fault.
No, Obama is a racist like his pastor.

Anne
morning deary!
Its a good thing you did not see Obambi's speech. Its hard to get that harsh taste out ones mouth.

Whoa Nellie
Mountain Rose, you are so right on Nellie's post. I have yet to read anything she says that makes any sense.

Sorry, Nellie, facts are facts.

Nellie, I know I am your favorite Bubba. Go sleep it off!!

So, in spite of the real progress this country has made in the last 50 years on race relations Obama's crowd feels they are justified in their hate whitey Anti-America stance.

His poor old grandma occasionally spoke some racial epitaphs which made him cringe. She took care of him but the apparently cannot forgive her those moments of weakness. More Christianity from Obama? Yet, he has no problem with Wright’s hate filled racial crap.

He has not even come close to renouncing what Wright said. He voice when he says he renounces Wright and he loves America is hollow with no passion at all.

As sure as the sun rises in the East many people who voted for this bigot with the false message of “Hope” “Change” and “Unity” wishes they had never heard of him. Hillary is dancing with joy at this turn of events.

I hope the Democrats get this clown gone ASAP. We need him out of the race NOW!!!!

Logs, sticks, and specks in our eyes
While I think that John McCain is far, far, far more qualified to answer the 3AM phone call than either Obama or Billary II, I'll give Barak Hussein Obama the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Paul says that Christians carry treasure in earthen vessels, and, in Wright's case, the earthen vessel has shown. In my own circles (mostly white, conservative Reformed folk) I've seen men who believe in all sorts of loopy conspiracy theories when their own doctrine ought to tell them that humanity is totally depraved and hence when things can go wrong they will. I have even had to suffer through one who could fume about the perfidy of the Jooooooz in the death of Christ and completely miss the atonement and its necessity in the salvation of sinners whenever he preached on the death of Christ. I didn't walk because the guy got defrocked on something else, and the next man knew the Gospel.

My guess is that Obama, while sincere in his friendships with various shades of whites and aware that Wright's conspiracy theories about AIDS are wacko, has developed a kind of institutional loyalty, personal ties and friendships at Trinity UCC, and has learned to hope against hope that Wright will grow up.

Unfortunately, in these here United States aka Tribes-is-us, where spiritual decadence lies like a pall of smog over LA, we cannot simply walk away from people with racial baggage--although I heartily concurr that if various Christian identity and white supremicist theologies are wrong, Wright's rants are, too. But is is my prayer that God the Holy Spirit, in applying the saving blood of Christ to us, will work on Rev. Ranting Wright as he is working on some recovering white racists I know, too.

God says don't look back!
If Wright knew the word of God he would be teaching forgiveness and moving forward. Learn from the past but don't live in it! The reason we can't move away from racism (which will always probably exists to some degree) is because there are people like wright and obama and michelle who will not rest until they have vengeance on America and the white race! But God says vengeance belongs to Him! And those who owned slaves and the slaves are dead now! So forgive them and embrace what this country offers.

Wright should be lifting his congregation up and not keeping them oppressed.

As for obama and his family, especially his young children, what we hear on a regular basis and is continuously impressed in our subconscious mind, becomes a part of us and lives in every cell of our body! Poison in...poison will manifest without in the environment! Knowing this...there is no way these messages of Wright are not fully embedded in Obama's being and that is why he cannot separate himself from Wright or Wright's belief system! Obama is a deceiver!

God Bless America because man is destroying her!

Great article, Michelle
This article, and others on Townhall that DON'T fawn all over Obama's speeches tells Americans that Obama ISN'T the "hope" or "change" that this country needs -- for we don't hope for hate speech, and we don't want this country to change into a third world country, with constant fighting and wars amongst it's people. No, Obama isn't the messiah that trancends race, sadly. He was just good at -- for about a year now, while running for POTUS -- covering it up. It really saddens me that this was FALSE HOPE after all.

Mom in Wisconsin

Maverick
Conservatives, talk radio and Fox News have brought the truth about Wright, Trinity Church to the forefront. The MSM certainly did not do any research into Obama. This is real news. Imagine the fire storm if this were McCain’s church of 20 years and it preached Anti Jew Anti America and Anti Black messages.

Conservatives, talk radio and Fox News would have been all over it and it would not have taken a year either. The MSM would have joined them and McCain would have been out of the picture before the Iowa caucus.

This is not being done to help Hillary but to bring to light a serious flaw in a candidate who professes to be a uniter who wants to bring hope and change to Washington.

We Conservatives, talk radio and Fox News are well aware Hillary will continue to flay us. We are under no illusions about Hillary. We hope y’all are now under no illusions about Obama but it looks like the far left of you and the majority of the black community will just say we are attacking a black (not really black is he?) man because we are scared a black could be elected.

I would vote for Condi Rice, Colin Powell, and J. C. Watts and would consider Ken Blackwell or Michael Steele. I really cannot think of that many white people I would consider right now.

Seeing is not believing
This is like the search for WMDs in Iraq. People go nuts thinking they're there, ramp up all sorts of crazy scenarios and reactions to the possibility, send in the inspectors, then the army, find nothing, convince themselves they are hidden out of sight, search some more, find nothing, and continue to believe they're there anyhow.

At least Barack Obama is aware of the forces that motivate people, where they are coming from so to speak, which is quite an advantage when it comes to resolving so many of the troubling issues that face our nation and the world at large. I read the posts here and all I can think is that reality is not something of much concern. Much better that we keep believing whatever distortions are tossed our way, no matter how groundless they might be. There is simply nothing in Obama's words or actions that suggests he sees the world in the ways Jeremiah Wright does. But that is again reality, which of course has no basis here.

The damage cannot be undone
Obama can mitigate the damage, but this Jeremiah Wright issue WILL impact the election.

For it obviously underscores Obama's utter lack of judgment.

I believe the original reports on Wright's comments came from both ABC news and Fox News.

We all know media bends over backwards to give Obama a "fair shake".

The fact this Wright association took this long to be disclosed is amazing.

But then it is not surprising, given how drenched media is in p.c. dogma.

Until very recently Obama was a sacred cow.

So now the democrats will be saddled with either Obama, who will go into the general election as "damagaed goods" by virtue of his 20 year association with the virulently anti-white race, anti-United States Jeremiah Wright, OR, with Hillary Clinton, with her "high negatives", her polarizing effect.

Not an enviable position for democrats.

Nice analysis by Michelle.

Ms. Malkin
Probably the best line in your column:

"Well, you can't pick your grandma, but you can pick your pastor".

This is what lies at the center of the controversy. HIS CHOICES!! He has yet to take responsibility for this, instead choosing to gloss over it with American flags, and equating his preacher's rants with his grandmother's use of epithets. Even my Obama-supporting neighbor, who thought he could do no wrong, has doubts.

Thanks for a great column!

As I heard it
Obama said that blacks have a right to be angry because we don't have universal health care and don't throw more money at schools that do a worse job for more money than private schools do for much less money and because everyone isn't guaranteed a cushy job.

Redux
I wonder how many white folks in Iowa, Wyoming, and elsewhere who voted for Obama would like to have a do over if given the chance? Obama didn't need to go to Philly to give his speech he needed to go to Des Moins or Omaha or Cheyanne. I am from Illinois and while Wright's rants play well in South Chicago they don't play well in the corn belt. Obama may well have a legitimate challenger for his senate seat after this faux pas.

Nos Nevets & Nellie
Nos, If "maybe he doesn't really go to church much" is your excuse, then his statements regarding his "deep religious faith" are lies. Nellie, try to make a little more sense.

Mr. Change
Why didn't Obama effect change in his church over a 20 year period. The question is not how Whright enfluenced Obama, but why couldn't Obama enfluence Wright. A good leader doesn't follow around behind a bigot.

Flashback
I well remember the MSM's anointed Dem candidate in 2004 was Howard Dean until his "I have a scream!" moment in Iowa derailed the kook.

After watching and listening to "Rev." Wright's sermons, I can't help but be reminded of Dean.

Perhaps this is Obama's version, albeit by proxy.

This guy is toast...

Note to liberals: Fear not, one of TH's most enlightened trolls, Sophie of a Thousand Names, has predicted the great Orator Obama will turn this negative into a positive - just you watch!

They Don't Get It!
Imagine you walk into a church. You sit down in the pews and the preacher comes out to the pulpit and says, "I hate each and every one of you because you are white, but I will still try and preach the word of God and speak of the Gospels."

Everything that preacher says after that sentence will be put into the context that he hates whites. His heretofore sentiments will color everything else he says. That's what those defending Obama are missing.

See and hear B.Hussein Obama...
telling us what he will do if elected.

Good morning!

YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAARRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sound familiar, Primus??

;-)

For Nos Nevets
That would make some sense. Of course, he could also have countered the Muslim name issue much more simply by sipping wine/bourbon/whisky in front of cameras.

YLG
yes, it reminds me of a song I heard years ago on KFAT out of Gilroy, CA.

....you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can't wipe your friends on the couch.

YLG
Sound familiar" Oh yeah! I bookmarked a YouTube of this famous moment some time ago. Whenever I need a laugh - I watch it. Priceless!

'Morning to you, SSGT & Anne.

Influence
I cannot imagine there is anyone in Rev (apparently not so reverend) Wright's congregation that could be more important or influential that the U.S. Senator Barack Obama. My guess is a few words from the Senator to his friend and mentor could have had a vast influence on the tone and tenor coming from the misguided Preacher. Apparently those critiques never happened, apparently the Senator was tone deaf when in church, or most likely and far more believable is the notion the Senator clapped in complete agreement with the racist, unAmerican bilge being pumped out by J. Wright. Obama cannot win the Presidency--any self respecting White American cannot vote for this racist and more profoundly they must cast a vote against him (regardless of Party affiliation) to ensure he never takes a false oath of office.

YLG - 2
I wonder if somebody has checked on "lilly" this morning.

She is elderly and a huge Obama apolog... er supporter. And the events over the last couple of days have probably been hard on her.

I know her posts make your day - I'd hate to think she's huddled up in the fetal position and won't get out of bed to face the day.

No....they do not get it....
and until the Catholic Church is shut down, I mean completely then we need to move away from Religious associations. Cardinal Mahoney refuses to pay for the victims of child predators within the infrastructure of the Catholic Church but you still get your communion on Sunday. Has any of the Churches that did in fact have child predators shut down, did the parishoners leave in mass amounts. No. They covered it up, as usual. Covering up a dirty little secret is what America does best. Deny, Deny, Deny.

See you got the memo from John Moody, today. He forgot to mention how you can uplift your Presidential candidate Senator John Mccain, you know the expert in war, in Iraq, who stated yesterday "Al'Queada is going into Iran and getting trained and weapons and then crossing back into Iraq." Or maybe he did mention it by you talking heads ommitting it from your daily dialogue.

No wonder you repubs are playing snippets of Rev. Wrights message the most controversial parts because you have nothing else. Look to your current President who has all but ruin your Republican filled country. It amazes me how you pick and choose what is news, then what is honest news.

The Other Alan
It was nice the way Obambi put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, wasn't it?

Matthews / Obama
Obama might want to think about taking out a restaining order on Chris Matthews. i was flipping by yesterday and he talked about Obama in such a way that I was reminded of Lewinski talking about Clinton during their time together.

Vic
Well, that song just put a great pic in my head!

You know, if Bill Clinton had said, "Well, I don't recall [my preacher] saying anything like that," I would believe it, because he wears his spirituality like a necktie. But Obama wears it like a shroud, and so this is going to backfire on him. One cannot claim to be so spiritual, being mentored through 20 years by one's preacher, and come out and say, " I never heard that,", then turn around and say, "Well, I did, but I didn't agree with them."

Sorry, it doesn't wash, IMO.

YLG/Primus54
Gooooood morning all! YLG, was that a hardy YEEEEAAAARRRGGGHHHH from TX good morning to all? Or was it just another:

Primus54
Oh, not to worry....

I'm cruising the threads, waiting to spring....

And she'll probably hit Williams or Sowell, so it should be easy.

He should have
given a speech like Bill Cosby did, for which he was excoriated by most blacks, then say if you don't like the truth don't vote for me.

Until blacks stop blaming whites for all their perceived grievences, most of which they bring on themselves, this country will never reconcile the races and the blame can be layed at the feet of people like wright.

Just another pol who won't even wear our flag and has proven himself to not have the judgement required to be president.

YES THE SAME OLD SONG
Judging from these hateful comments regarding Sen Obama's speak. You jerks are right.

You dismiss call to go forward because you have the same old response. The real truth is that very few of you were Obama supports anyway. He could have said anything and you would have still complained and condemed.

But keep to your same old song and watch as this nation to be damned.

It's Easter Time...
...Have you been visited by the Barack O-Bunny?

The TRUTH
The "WORLD" is watching, as we show them, the "STUPIDITY",that is "US".In no other place, that I have lived, do the people exist at such LOW LEVELS.I thought, Ms.Malkin sounded somewhat like a Harry Potter character."Say Goodbye",these are actions of a "Childlike" mind.Well, maybe, honesty is just not an American tradition. How very sad,not just for America but for the WORLD...

SSGT
Neither.

It was a "DANG IT'S COLD OUTSIDE" yell, reminiescent of Howard Dean's meltdown. My feet are freezing, my little spatyphyllum died, and I hope you are happy!!!

Killer
huh?????

Troll Roll-Call
"OH NO NOT AGAIN", "cabobby" & "killer":

You might want to venture over to Thomas Sowell's column - I think you will recognize yourself.

Pay particular attention to Paragraph 13.

YLG
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I would not be happy about that!!!!

I didn't send the cold down there. I'm trying to give it back to the Canucks!

Primus54
I wonder if killer/cabobby realize how much their heros on the left has shamed this country to the world with their hate speeches over the past 2 years. I guess not, just look what they say now!

RIGHT ON!
Thanks MM for another accurate analysis. And thanks to all the commenters, other columnists and talk show hosts who are writing about Obama's
racially devisive speech. Power to the People: the people with eyes to see, ears to hear and minds open to reality.

killer/cabobby
are you wearing your american flag lapel pin today? Common, be like your hero Obambi and put it on. Show your support for america. You can do it. Its easy.

YLG/SSG/All
Isn’t it so hilarious reading the O’Vomit supporters twisting their insides out trying to rationalize his spew. But what is truly sad is the fact that Shrillary is no better and McLame is only marginal better.

We are doomed for at least two years.

Nellie scribbles:
You must meet the grade. And you will, once you invite God's lessons into your humble heart.

She more than meets the grade, and where have you EVER read that “God’s Message” is hate whitey?
The God that I was taught about said, love thy neighbor, and it did not give you any choices on colors.

Italian Word for This......
My pastor, a funny Texan, has an apt joke that fits Obama, "There is a good Italian word to describe this, Bologna!"

SSGT
They don't see it like that.. they are first and foremost, citizens of the "world".

Influence!
I believe that Obama, a fatherless young man, was influenced by Pastor Wright. When you have been listening to your pastor say GD America , would you vote against the Iraq war because you believe the worst about your country. I certainly see shades of Rev Wright in obama's policies, albeit without the inflaming rhetoric.

Will it End?
No one ever inquires to the minority community, black, hispanic, asian, etc..., what would prove the end of racism. Will it ever end? The answer is...... "NO".... As long as minorities maintain the idea that they will never get a fair shake in this country, and as long as white men are allowed to breed, and breath, according to the downtrodden masses, racism will be alive and well. Sorry, I don't plan on slitting my wrist or sterilizing my son any time soon. Since the current issue is a black/white thing, lets look at it. Is the Barry O, trying to say that there are no black only institutions in this country.... Last time I checked there were many, his own church is a good example, right on their website they tell you that they are Afro-centric. Sounds a little exclusionary. Short of a Klan membership, the last time I checked any institution that was for Whites only did not exist.... So where are we? I see the desire by many blacks that want their own culture, their own businesses, their own groups, but they hate whitey, cuz they need his money. Black athletes who make millions and often squander it on crap, and then whine about not having anything, because they didn't save anything, forget that the money they get are from white folks going to the games, not the leaches that hang around as part of their posse. So once again what would prove the end of racism? The answer is "nothing". There will always be white guys who don't like black people and there will always be black guys who don't like white people. That's life. I'm white and there are lots of white people I hate, but if I don't hire a white, no one will accuse me of racism and try to sue me.

Anybody smell that?
I'm predicting that our TH village idiot, "Robert" is about to show up here and remind us that Malkin is an "anchor baby".

I would have thought
blacks with the opportunities Obama and Michelle have been fortunate to have would be using this opportunity to cry out to the nation how fortunate they have been to be in this country. Such a cry would mean more to blacks then the whining and using of white guilt.

Read Shelby Steele the author who is also half black half white. He has said Obama is the bargaininer who has an unsaid agreement with whites not to upset them and make them uncomfortable while whites will forget he is black. Now, he has broken the agreement.

Steele decribers Michelle as the challenger in the family, a fact clear from her many comments.

after his comments on '60 Minutes' where the Senator answered as to whether he had any fears about being killed on his way to the 7/11, he brushed that aside in his typically billious fashion. I titled the comment I made regarding this and heard a lot of moonbats here insinuate racism on my part.
Sure, of course.
I thought that this guy would be your typical 'oppressed minority' candidate. As he conducted his campaign, I was plesantly suprised to see him veer away from that route.
Like many here, I thought he was an empty suit with nothing to say and things he did say, well, I was not impressed by them.
These revelations over the past couple of weeks have been a real eye opener and when pushed to the wall, he reacted just like the title of my comment in McCulloughs column. Without futher ado, I'll just end it like that.
When push came to shove, he really showed himself.
Just another hustler. Race hustler, that is.
