Unemployed Dad Hands Out Resumé On Side Of Road, Receives Hundreds Of Offers

We've all seen them. The folks standing on the median with a homemade sign begging for a dollar. Most of the time we just ignore them, for fear their scam artists. But, in Phoenix, Arizona, hundreds of drivers could not help but pay attention to one "beggar." The unemployed dad was not asking for money, but pleading for drivers by to take his resume. And it worked.

"I was driving down Camelback Rd in Phx near my office and saw this guy on the side of the road with a smile in 110-degree heat, with a sign asking people to take his resume," Twitter user Melissa DiGianfilippo tweeted.

"I love that he was not asking for a handout, just for people to consider him for a job," she added.

Patrick Hoagland was laid off work about a month ago. After having no luck applying for jobs online, he decided to head out to the streets. Digianfilippo, who tweeted the image, runs a public relations firm.
