Meteorologist Sets The Record Straight After AOC Blames D.C. Flash Flooding On Climate Change

Washington D.C. was hit with historic flooding on Monday as the area received nearly three inches of rain in just one hour. This led to flash flooding which was, of course, surprising but not necessarily unusual. Nonetheless, Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took the storm as an opportunity to bash Republicans and to promote her climate change agenda.

"Unprecedented flooding is quickly becoming a new normal. Despite that, Republicans are tripling down on fossil fuels w/no plan to transition off them, or make the critical infra investments we need to prep for the climate crisis," the freshman congresswoman tweeted. "Each day of inaction puts more of us in danger."

Well, in response to this, meteorologist Dr. Ryan Maue of Atlanta, GA slammed the politician on Twitter.

"First a tornado and now a flash flood," Maue said referring to AOC's incorrect belief that a recent tornado in the area was a direct result of climate change.

Maue informed AOC at the time that she was wrong then, too. "No idea what she means with 'casual tornadoes' and how this line of severe thunderstorms is proof of any 'climate crisis,' Maue remarked. "It's just the weather in D.C.."

Today, he again re-emphasized that the "Congresswoman does not miss an opportunity to turn a weather event she experiences into a political statement and blame Republicans."

"She's right that cities need to invest in infrastructure but a slow-moving t-storm isn't 'climate'," he added.
