Socialists Ransack Store Over Racist H&M Hoodie

A socialist group known as the Economic Freedom Fighters destroyed an H&M store in a mall in South Africa, after the clothing company marketed and sold what some say is a racist sweatshirt.

According to the group's website, "The EFF is a radical, leftist, anti-capitalist, and anti-imperialist movement with an internationalist outlook anchored by popular grassroots formations and struggles." To help further the "Marxist-Leninist tradition," a group of EFF socialists ransacked an H&M store in Gauteng, South Africa as a means of protest against an advertisement the international clothing company ran that featured a small black child wearing a sweatshirt that said "Coolest Monkey In The Jungle"

The videos, seen below, are apparently the first of six planned protests throughout South Africa.

According to BET.com, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, the spokesman for the Economic Freedom Fighters said on Twitter that "The time of apologies for racism are over," he said. "There must be consequences to anti-Black racism, period!"

While nobody was arrested, police arrived and fired rubber bullets into the crowd scattering the protesters.

It is worth noting that the boy's mother, according to The Blaze, has told people to "Get over it." She says the sweatshirt was not racist.

“I am the mum and this is one of hundreds of outfits my son has modeled…stop crying wolf all the time, unnecessary issue here…get over it,” Mango wrote on Facebook. “I really don’t understand, but not because I’m choosing not to but because it’s not my way of thinking. Sorry.

“If I bought that jumper and put it on him and posted it on my pages, would that make me racist? I get people’s opinions, but they are not mine,” she wrote.
