Anti-Trump Group Attacks First Female Combat Pilot Sen. McSally for Lack of Bravery

The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump group that has emerged as nothing short of a GOP punchline, has launched a campaign against Republican senators who support President Trump on impeachment. The group is headed by Never Trump Republicans, including the husband of White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway, George Conway. Also in the group's leadership is Rick Wilson, who recently categorized supporters of President Trump as illiterate in an appearance on CNN.

"President Donald Trump and those who sign onto Trumpism are a clear and present danger to the Constitution and our Republic. Only defeating so polarizing a character as Trump will allow the country to heal its political and psychological wounds and allow for a new, better path forward for all Americans," the website reads.

Amidst impeachment, this group of "Former Republican operatives" waged a war on GOP senators. The group's JV efforts undoubtedly will backfire, but one ad in particular was in extremely poor taste. The Lincoln Project launched a full-blown attack on Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ) for a lack of "courage" and "toughness" that previous senators from Arizona, namely John McCain and Barry Goldwater, have exemplified.

The group of NeverTrump Republicans, enveloped by a fierce hatred of the president, forgets that Sen. McSally was the first ever female fighter pilot to fly in combat. To question Sen. McSally's courage is not only tone-deaf, but also despicable; the group of scorned, angry ex-Republicans, a group predominantly made-up of men, is completely blinded by hatred of President Trump.

Constructive criticism of President Trump, and of any lawmaker, certainly has a place in political discourse. The Lincoln Project's new smear campaign of GOP senators is far from constructive or productive, though. Labeling the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat, a woman who served her country honorably, is abhorrent.
