Is communism about to fail in Cuba?
It sure seems like it, with Cubans storming the communist party headquarters over the weekend and setting fire to the building. For almost 70 years, Cubans have lived with the crushing weight of communism. The government, in its benevolence, provides the people just seven pounds of rice, one pound of beans, half a bottle of cooking oil, small amounts of chicken, eggs, milk (prioritized for children), sugar, coffee, and soap/toiletries. It's estimated that these foodstuffs only provide 30 to 60 percent of a person's daily caloric needs. They used to provide Cubans with a roll, too, but that small piece of bread was recently removed from the rations.
Meanwhile, the communist party brass live high off the hog.
Leftists, of course, believe that's equality. They also naively believe that most of them will be poets and Twitch streamers while the government pays for their daily needs. That's not true; they'll work in factories, farms, or mines if they're not lined up against the wall because they're no longer useful to the party.
There are lessons to be learned here, if Americans are willing to pay attention. In a country where we elected socialists like Zohran Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are pushing to elect more guys like him across the country — both locally and nationally — we need to look to Cuba to see a) the devastation communism causes and b) realize the only way out of communism is bloody and violent.

It's best not to go down that road at all.
Many Cubans, lucky enough to have fled the Castro regime, tend to be conservatives if not outright Republicans. Because they know that of which they speak. I also know that Democrats hate them for it. Years ago, when I worked at a college, the Leftists who ran the show would complain about the Russians, Cubans, and others who spoke out against Democrats and their blatant socialism. This was 20 years ago now, so the Democrats' wanting socialism isn't exactly a new development, mind you.
The prevailing sentiment from all these Leftists was this: if we pay attention to these people, it will get in the way of our agenda. The Left insisted that we must ignore and dismiss them and — if we couldn't do that — we must attack and silence them.
Gee, what happened to the Left's love of "lived experiences"? That lasted about as long as the Cuban food rations.
So now the DSA has decided it's going to travel to Cuba to tell the people who have lived with crushing poverty, tyrannical government, and the ill-effects of communism to suck it up because it'll damage the DSA's cause here in America.
DSA is going to Cuba! 20 DSA members are joining the Nuestra America Convoy this March 21st. We’ll bring much-needed material aid, volunteer our labor in solidarity, and show the world that Cuba is under siege, but they are not alone. pic.twitter.com/V7rS4pcLYu

I absolutely love the optics of a bunch of rich, privileged white socialists attempting to tell Cubans they're wrong about the communism that's destroyed their nation and repressed its people for the past seven decades.
And that's exactly what this is. Who are some of the most prominent Democratic socialists in America today? Zohran Mamdani, whose parents own a compound in Uganda, and who attended high-priced private schools. His housing advisor, Cea Weaver, doesn't want people like me to own a house, but her mom has a mansion in Tennessee, and she has an apartment in Crown Heights, despite opposing gentrification. Seattle's socialist Mayor Katie Wilson hasn't held a real job until she was elected to an office she's wholly unqualified for (and it shows). She worked as a barista for years while mommy and daddy paid her bills. Socialist Calla Walsh wants to dismantle the United States, but check out the very expensive coffee maker she's got.
These are people for whom the biggest challenge of their lives was picking which designer shoes to wear to their first day of private school, and whether they wanted their personal chef to make them sushi or a salad for lunch. They have never lived in the real world, held a real job, or spent a minute outside of their privileged bubbles.
Despite that, they spout off about an ideology that has done more to harm people than any in human history, and they pretend they're the good guys for it.
I am firmly on the side of the Cuban people throwing off the burdensome yoke of communism. It seems they will succeed, even though the DSA is trying desperately to stop them.
My only hope is that the DSA livestreams any attempt to keep the Cuban people down, although I doubt there would be enough popcorn in the world for us to eat as we watched the Cubans put the commies in their place.
