Behold the Hypocritical Virginia Democrats

There are many ways in which the Virginia Democrats, like the national party, are raging hypocrites. They ran Abigail Spanberger as a moderate governor who vowed not to gerrymander the state and to make things more affordable. Instead, early voting is underway for a redistricting scheme that will disenfranchise Virginia Republicans for a generation, and taxes on everything from dog walkers to Uber Eats are going up.

Those things, while wrong and burdensome, can be undone, however. It will take time and legal battles and a bunch of political money but they can be rolled back.

What cannot be undone, however, is the murder of Stephanie Minter. The Fairfax mother, who was only 41 years old, was stabbed to death late last month by Abdul Jalloh, an illegal immigrant with dozens of prior arrests. Instead of turning Jalloh over to ICE, the Spanberger administration demanded that ICE obtain a signed judicial warrant for Jalloh, which is both unnecessary and unreasonable. That's by design, of course. Democrats know the process of deporting illegals will all but end if ICE is forced to get a judicial warrant for each and every one of the millions of illegals the Biden-Harris administration let cross our border.

Democrats have made opposition to ICE, and the defunding of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) a plank in their platform. They've got the government partially shut down over it.

So it takes some incredible audacity for the Virginia Democrats to now blame ICE for failing to remove Jalloh from the country.  But that's exactly what they're doing.

He said that with a straight face.

Pick a lane, Democrats: either ICE is the second coming of the SS or ICE isn't working quickly enough. Which is it?

The answer to that question, of course is, "Whatever position helps us Democrats today."

I, for one, will not let them play that card. And neither should Virginia voters. They do not get to attack ICE, work to thwart it at every turn, and then go on to blame ICE for their repeated and intentional failures, their sanctuary policies, and their soft-on-crime prosecutors, including Fairfax County's Steve Descano.

In one of her first acts as Governor, Spanberger ended local law enforcement cooperation with ICE. Descano repeatedly refused to prosecute Jalloh and put him behind bars. In November, Descano's office received an email from a police officer who warned that it was only a matter of time before Jalloh killed someone. Turns out that "matter of time" was three months. And it wasn't the first time Descano's office let a violent criminal illegal alien loose, either. Last December, Marvin Fernando Morales Ortez killed a person the day after he was released from a Reston, Virginia jail. Ortez had previously been arrested for murder in 2021, and Descano's office dropped the first-degree murder charges against him.

This wasn't accidental. This was a choice. And it's one the Democrats keep making. With deadly consequences they simply smirk about.

But I also think that if the Virginia Democrats aren't happy with how quickly ICE is deporting guys like Abdul Jalloh, perhaps DHS should give them what they want. Perhaps the next big ICE surge should be in Richmond and Fairfax County.

You know, to quickly deport the illegals that Virginia Democrats have enabled.

Do that and watch how fast Democrats like Marcus Simon begin whining once again about the "Gestapo" "tearing apart families" while they don't seem to care that Stephanie Minter's family has permanently been torn apart.
