Politicians in at least five states are now calling for their state legislatures to adopt immigration statutes similar to Arizona's new law.
According to CBS News
, policymakers in Texas, Utah, Georgia, Ohio and Maryland are calling on their states to institute more hard-line immigration laws which mirror Arizona's new law.
Immigration reform "has to be a priority" in Washington, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday. The Arizona law, he added, "could naturally drive each state to creating its own immigration law."
