Update: ACORN Responds, U.S. Census Severs Ties

It's getting hotter in the ACORN kitchen.  The workers featured in the latest DC office investigative video have been canned, just like their friends in Baltimore

were yesterday.  Apparently ACORN is still insisting incidents of behavior like this are isolated.

The Census Bureau today sent a letter to ACORN, indicating that it was severing its ties with the organization and that it would no longer need ACORN's assistance in the 2010 Census.  The reason for the newly severed ties?  ACORN is bad for business.  [# More #]

Census director Robert Groves wrote:
It is clear that ACORN's affiliation with the 2010 census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 census efforts.
Apparently registering "Mickey Mouse" to vote and fraud cases in 11 states weren't bad enough to prohibit ACORN from working on the government population survey.  But I digress...

The other thing that is intriguing to me from these videos is how well-versed the workers are in tax laws--I mean, it's not easy to make an under-aged prostitution ring look kosher on tax forms.  Either these ACORN workers are disgruntled former H&R Block employees or they are receiving training from within the organization.

I wonder which lesson during employee orientation teaches workers about purposeful tax evasion and money laundering...
