On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was officially adopted, granting women across the country the right to vote. On August 18, 1920, the Tennessee General Assembly became the thirty-sixth state legislature to ratify the 19th Amendment, making it officially a part of the U.S. Constitution.
