ESPN laid off many staff members. Some good employees were let go, while others were simply retired. That’s just how the industry functions. The first person to be fired was Ryan Clark, a former NFL player, who was reportedly informed during a commercial break this week. At least he was told directly; others apparently found out about their layoffs on social media. However, the outlet that initially reported Clark’s firing was one that ex-ESPN host Jemele Hill found extremely irritating.
Oh, she was triggered that OutKick, which was absorbed into Fox News, got the scoop on Clark’s departure, prompting Hill to go off on a tangent about why this happened. She was also baffled about how this outlet got the lead on this—it happens, Jemele. Deal with it. She has no evidence, other than her feelings about this story. She suspects that Clark might have detractors inside ESPN who leaked the information. Frankly, she’s upset that conservatives got this story first.
They’re dancing on his grave, she says. Lady, he dug it himself. And he’ll be fine. And if Clark doesn’t get picked up elsewhere, it only confirms that this might have been the right decision.

Supposedly, Clark’s belittling of colleague Peter Schrager months ago is what caused his pink slip. I couldn’t care less—he’s gone. But Hill’s reaction to this was also equally predictable.
