Jim Harbaugh Was at March for Life Last Week

March for Life was last Friday. It occurred during a winter storm, but that didn’t deter the legions of pro-life activists from gathering at the National Mall. We have no estimates of the crowd size, which was probably smaller than in past years, but it wouldn’t shock me if at least 100,000 people were there. When the weather is good, it’s not unusual for 300-650,000 people to show up. Those have been in attendance figures in the past.

This year, there was a very special guest at the march: Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, who is still basking in the afterglow of victory from winning the College Football Playoff National Championship. Harbaugh is known for his pro-life stance, even telling his players that he’d help raise any child born to an unplanned pregnancy.

Harbaugh was in the area to return to support his brother, Baltimore Ravens Coach John Harbaugh, who played the Houston Texans in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. John attended the college football championship on January 8. I admit that I’m not the biggest Harbaugh fan, but on this, you can’t really fault the guy. It’s nice to know that he gives his players some support system if such an event arises in their personal lives.

While the snow poured down on attendees, Harbaugh said it was a great day for a march; it was football weather. He was there to introduce former NFL player and Super Bowl champion Benjamin Watson (via Daily Caller):

“You know, we all talk about human rights. There’s really no rights that are important unless you have the right to life,” Harbaugh told the DCNF. “This is a great day for a march. It’s a great day for the sanctity of life, and football weather. Let’s make it a great day.”

Harbaugh later went on stage to address the assembled demonstrators and introduce Benjamin Watson, a former NFL player and supporter of the pro-life cause who gave a speech of his own at the rally.

He told the DCNF that there are numerous pro-life players on his championship winning squad as well.

Harbaugh, a Catholic, has long been a staunch supporter of the pro-life cause, sharing his belief “in having the courage to let the unborn be born” at the 2022 Plymouth Right to Life dinner and auction in Plymouth, Michigan.

Harbaugh could be making a return to the NFL. Michigan was involved in an alleged sign-stealing scandal, though I doubt the NCAA will vacate any of the wins.
