I think grandpa needs a nap. Or better yet, he fell victim to a criticism he lobbed…at his own party. In 2017, while speaking about free speech at the University of Delaware, former Vice President Joe Biden said, “liberals have short memories.” That couldn’t be more accurate with his latest remarks about Russia and our elections, where he incredibly said that interference from the Kremlin wouldn’t have happened under Obama. Uh, Joey, it did. And everyone knows it. Who was president in 2016? (via Free Beacon):
Former Vice President Joe Biden claimed that Russian election interference would not have happened when he was Vice President during a Friday interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo.
Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to undermine U.S. elections while undermining elections throughout Europe.
"Look at what's happening with Putin. While Putin is trying to undo our elections, he is undoing elections in Europe. Look what's happened in Hungary, look what's happening in Poland, look what's happening," Biden said. "Do you think that would happen on my watch or Barack's watch? You can't answer that, but I promise you it wouldn't have. And it didn't."
The Russian interference in the 2016 election did occur while Obama and Biden were both in office.
The Washington Post had a lengthy piece about how the Obama White House handled the news about the Kremlin interfering in the 2016 elections. Yes, it looked like Obama, shocker, was paralyzed. He dropped the ball. CNN’s Jake Tapper said it appeared the Obama administration was “asleep at the switch” during this whole affair. Other top Democrats, including Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, also agreed that Obama choked on Russian interference. Now, was there a conspiracy between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign to tilt the election through this interference? No. The Mueller Report debunked that. There was no Trump-Russia collusion. It was simply another chapter in the book of geopolitics. And yes, the U.S. has interfered in elections, even supporting coups when we didn’t like the result a la Chile 1973. Also, the extent of the interference was small; most of which amount to a six-figure social media campaign blasting out trash memes. If you think $100,000 can end American institutions, then you need to see a doctor and go on a lengthy dose of tranquilizers. Hopefully, when you wake up, you’ll wake up—and this is directed towards the Russian collusion myth peddlers who continue to embarrass themselves spewing this trash. As for Joe, well, this is a slight blip, though a bit of an embarrassing gaffe. Right now, he’s being cut down by busing of all issues.
