Former Clinton Adviser: Hillary Will Mount A Third Bid For President In 2020...(And Probably Lose Again)

There are a lot of things rising from the depths of hell. Nancy Pelosi could be the next Speaker of the House, and Hillary Clinton could be running for president…again. No, this is no joke.

The former first lady and two-time presidential loser is thinking about running even though she has said repeatedly she has no interest in rerunning the gambit. Alas, another lesson in politicians lying and never believing anything that comes out of the mouth of Hillary Clinton—whether it is about emails or Benghazi.

Mark Penn, a top Democratic pollster and senior adviser to the Clintons and Andrew Stein, a Democrat who endorsed Trump in 2016, detailed why they think Lady Macbeth is ready for another go at the White House (via WSJ):

Expect Hillary 4.0 to come out swinging. She has decisively to win those Iowa caucus-goers who have never warmed up to her. They will see her now as strong, partisan, left-leaning and all-Democrat—the one with the guts, experience and steely-eyed determination to defeat Mr. Trump. She has had two years to go over what she did wrong and how to take him on again.

Richard Nixon came back from his loss to John F. Kennedy in 1960 and won the presidency in 1968. He will be the model for winning again. Mrs. Clinton won’t travel the country in a van with Huma Abedin this time, doing small events and retail politics. Instead she will enter through the front door, mobilizing the army of professional women behind her, leveraging her social networks, and raking in donations. She will hope to emerge as an unstoppable force to undo Mr. Trump, running on the #MeToo movement, universal health care and gun control. Proud and independent, this time she will sideline Bill and Mr. Obama, limiting their role to fundraising.

The generation of Democrats who have been waiting to take over the party from the Clintons will be fuming that she is back and stealing their show. But they revealed themselves to be bungling amateurs in the Brett Kavanaugh nomination fight, with their laughable Spartacus moments. She will trounce them. Just as Mr. Trump cleared the field, Mrs. Clinton will take down rising Democratic stars like bowling pins. Mike Bloomberg will support her rather than run, and Joe Biden will never be able to take her on.

Don’t pay much attention to the “I won’t run” declarations. Mrs. Clinton knows both Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama declared they weren’t running, until they ran. She may even skip Iowa and enter the race later, but rest assured that, one way or another, Hillary 4.0 is on the way.

The piece also included her long messy history of presidential failures. She was somewhat of a “centrist” in 2008, compared to Barack Obama, who couldn’t break the media love affair with the then-Senator from Illinois. He was a reformer. She tried to be a fighter. It failed. She lost the primaries.

In 2016, she tried to take the nomination route as a liberal, but Bernie Sanders dragged her further to the Left, a fatal move. It put her way outside of the mainstream. She may have received the support of the big wigs, but lost Middle America.

With the Democratic Party in a power vacuum for the 2020 election, it seems anyone thinks they have a shot at the nomination. Case in point, even porn lawyer Michael Avenatti believes he could win. He won’t. Then again, with the superdelegates’ power clipped for the 2020 convention, only God knows which cretins will come out of the Left’s clown car.

So far, former Vice President Joe Biden waits in the wings, reportedly waiting until after the holidays to announce whether he’s running. If he does run, Clinton could again have another old, white dude destroying her dreams of occupying the White House. Biden could make Trump work to maintain his hold on white working class whites. For argument’s sake, Hillary will probably do well in southern states and clinch a solid percentage of the black vote, but she won’t be able to dominate the I-95 primaries. I think a Biden-Clinton duel could be nasty as well. I hope so—there’s nothing more entertaining than Democratic blood sports.

But this line kills me:

“Mrs. Trump, running on the #MeToo movement, universal health care and gun control.”

First, support for universal health care, Democrats want Medicare for all, drops like a rock when you tell voters their employer-based plans have to be cannibalized for it to work. Gun control only stokes up the GOP base and gets pro-gun voters animated, which drive up rural turnout that caused Clinton's 2016 defeat. She had an army of professional women in 2016. She still lost. She has to win younger voters, and it’s hard to say if they will back her in 2020, especially since they flocked to an old white Vermont Senator in 2016. Clinton is not good at retail politics and small events. She’s just not, even if she tries to put on an appallingly fake southern accent.  And that’s the core of what’s wrong with her. She’s painfully inauthentic. No one trusts her—and the email fiasco in 2016 accentuated it, it wasn’t the cause of her precipitous drop in character issue numbers with voters. She’s just terrible. The more she’s in the spotlight, the more unpopular she becomes. The third time won’t prove that any different.

Last, and probably the most absurd, is this notion she can lead the Me Too Movement. Bill Clinton has a serial history of alleged sexual misconduct and abuse. He’s been credibly accused of rape—and she stood by him. She thinks the abuse allegations against her husband, who is the real political talent of the duo, aren't really abuse because…well, just because. Right, because when the President of the United States uses his title for a sexual tryst with a young intern, that’s totally consensual, right? Dear lord, lady. Scores of feminists came to admit that their attacks on Bill’s accusers were wrong. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) said that Bill Clinton should’ve resigned over the Lewinsky affair; Gillibrand is a Clinton ally. If the feminist Left circles back and supports her in 2020, after denouncing Bill’s allegations and admitting they’re credible, given their all or nothing, believe all women mindset, then the movement really is as hollow as we all think it is.

They’ll be just as inauthentic as Mrs. Hillary, and it’ll be delicious to see all of that crashing down.

Hillary, like Obama, also animates the GOP base, which will be jacked up to vote for Trump again. If the white working class shifts five more percentage points to the GOP, not only will Trump win the Electoral College—he’ll clinch the popular vote, delivering another sledgehammer to the face of the Democratic Party. With Hillary’s remarks about coal miners and putting them out of business still fresh in the minds of rural voters, please, nominate Hillary, Democrats.

At the same time, if I were the Democrats, I would be contemplating ritual suicide. None of the young progressives can beat Trump, and Hillary is the best worst option, who also can’t win. Oh, and those gains in the House—kiss that goodbye too.
