Spending Limit Amendment

Tomorrow, the Republican Study Committee -- which includes Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) and RSC Members Paul Ryan (R-WI), John Campbell (R-CA), Scott Garrett (R-NJ), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), and Michele Bachmann (R-MN) --will announce their proposed

Spending Limit Amendment.

(This is much better than a Speed Limit Amendment -- unless it raised the speed limit to 85, or something).
 
The proposed Amendment would allow federal spending to grow only at the rate of nominal GDP growth.  In other words, the federal government's growth could not exceed economic growth. 

Of course, there is very little chance of this passing.  But it is one small step toward reclaiming the Republican brand.  Kudos to the RSC for standing up for responsible government.
