Hotline is reporting on an exciting new Club for Growth poll conducted by Basswood Research. The poll surveyed 300 Republican likely voters, and pitted Governor

Sarah Palin (R) against incumbent big-spender (and Bridge-to-Nowhere supporter) Senator Ted Stevens (R).

The results show that in a Primary Matchup for U.S. Senate, Palin would defeat Stevens 56-to-32 percent.

When asked whether or not voters would prefer a candidate who would cut spending, vs. one who, "increases spending if it brings money to AK," 71 percent said they would prefer a candidate who cuts spending.

When asked whether or not they would prefer a candidate who looks like Palin vs. one who looks like Stevens, 100 percent said Palin (ok, I made that up, but it's probably not far off ...)

These are very promising numbers, and one hopes Palin is willing to be wooed into the race ...
