is reporting on an exciting new Club for Growth poll conducted by Basswood Research.  The poll surveyed 300 Republican likely voters, and pitted Governor Sarah Palin (R) against incumbent big-spender (and Bridge-to-Nowhere supporter) Senator Ted Stevens (R).

The results show that in a Primary Matchup for U.S. Senate, Palin would defeat Stevens 56-to-32 percent

When asked whether or not voters would prefer a candidate who would cut spending, vs. one who, "increases spending if it brings money to AK," 71 percent said they would prefer a candidate who cuts spending.

When asked whether or not they would prefer a candidate who looks like Palin vs. one who looks like Stevens, 100 percent said Palin (ok, I made that up, but it's probably not far off ...)

These are very promising numbers, and one hopes Palin is willing to be wooed into the race ...
