Leaking Emails

Jonathan Martin of Politico has posted an email from Gary Marx, Mitt Romney's conservative outreach guru.  (I'm not linking to it, but if you're interested, you can find it).

In interest of full disclosure, I have worked for and with Gary in the past, and consider him to be a good friend and a great political operative.  I also know Jonathan, and have found him to be a good guy.

But here's my question for you ...

Is it cool for a blogger or a journalist to post a campaign email that someone leaked to them?

Sure, journalists have posted emails from folks like Jack Abramoff and "Brownie."  But those were different kinds of stories.

My question is: What do you think of Jonathan posting Gary's email?  Is it fair game?  Or is it out-of-bounds?  I can see good arguments on both sides of the issue.

Let me know your thoughts...
