It's all Connected: SCOTUS, Sex Toys, Patterico, and Gitmo

I know Zarqawi, the terrorist said to the American. I am going to have Zarqawi cut off your family’s head while you watch. Then he will cut off your head.

The terrorist said it all in a matter-of-fact way, looking the American straight in the eye.

Patterico is doing a series of interviews with that American, a reader of his who served at Gitmo. Part I is up today.

I imagine you'll learn a lot more about both the brutality of the men held there and the tolerance of the men who have to guard them.

And, since it was the Supreme Court's Hamdan decision that got us talking about this, it's worth noting that the SCOTUS starts up a new term today, and it's gonna be a good one if the first headline is any indication:

Supreme Court starts term, rejects sex toy appeal

Kill-joys.

Breyer and Ginsburg were not in attendance due to the Yom Kippur holiday leaving the Court totally dominated by Catholics, just as the theocrats had planned. The Archbishop at the Red Mass for the four Catholic justices this Sunday kept his blessing subtle enough that even the NYT detected nothing. Excellent.

They're not doing oral arguments today, but in the future, transcripts will be available on the SCOTUS site within hours instead of weeks, as was the case before.

On the docket this year? Affirmative action (again?), abortion (an old classic!), environmental law (boring), terrorism stuff (vital).
