Cutting Pork: Boehner Getting Tough

Boehner also said he would not allow a House vote on a Senate-approved spending bill that contains about $14 billion more than Bush sought to support the war in Iraq and rebuilding from the hurricanes.

"If you look back over the last 50 years, in 45 of them we spent more than we took in, building debt that our kids and their kids get to pay," he said. "We are going to win (the fight over spending) because there are enough members of Congress, enough Republicans, that will stand up and say, `We're not going to spend more than what needs to be spent at this time.'"
