Trump, Gillibrand Spar Over Twitter

President Trump took aim at Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) Tuesday morning on Twitter after the lawmaker called for the president to step down amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Gillibrand took the sides of three women, who spoke out Monday about how Trump sexually harassed them, and said the allegations ought to be enough to make the president step down “immediately.”

"I think he should immediately resign, and if he doesn't, we should have the investigation," she said.

Trump responded Tuesday, saying she’s “a total flunky for Chuck Schumer” and even begged him for campaign contributions not too long ago.

“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office “begging” for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!” he wrote.

Gillibrand didn’t waste any time countering.

“You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office,” she said on Twitter.

Trump hasn’t been the New York senator’s only target, however. Gillibrand also called for Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) to resign after sexual harassment allegations.  And last month, the longtime political ally of the Clintons also went so far as to say that former President Bill Clinton should’ve stepped down after his affair with Monica Lewinsky.
