From the name-calling, to Robot Rubio, to Ben Carson believing the pyramids were used to store grain, to Donald Trump defending the size of his private parts in a debate, the GOP primary process has been chock-full of cringe-worthy moments that have a lot of Republican primary voters embarrassed by their party, a new poll finds.
According to a New York Times/CBS News national poll released on Monday, 60 percent of GOP primary voters said the Republican presidential campaign has made them feel mostly embarrassed by the Republican Party. Only 27 percent said it has made them feel mostly proud. Ouch:
Fifty-eight percent also said that the overall tone of the Republican presidential campaign has been more negative than past election cycles. And a whopping 88 percent of Republican primary voters describe the GOP as divided. Only 10 percent said they believed it was united.
It certainly doesn't help matters that a contested convention is increasingly likely at this point.
