Michael Bloomberg Puts Anti-Gun Plans Into Action

America's Most Dangerous Mayor has long advocated stricter gun control laws - not just in his own mayoral jurisdiction, but in other places around the country. Not content to merely govern New Yorkers, Bloomberg has begun to put his personal fortune on the line to oust Second Amendment advocates around the country.

The Sacramento Bee reports that Bloomberg spent millions in opposition of a pro-gun Democrat Congressman in California. His efforts were rewarded, as the NRA-supported Democrat lost to a more liberal candidate.

No doubt the strongest gun control advocate on Forbes' list of the fabulously rich, Bloomberg seized an opportunity to unseat Baca, a pro-gun Democrat, by spending $3.3 million on television and mail attacks. Given his estimated $25 billion fortune, $3.3 million is couch cushion change. But it was three times the sum Baca and Negrete McLeod raised between them. By homing in on a loyal National Rifle Association politician, Bloomberg altered a long-standing element of American politics.

The Bee reports that Bloomberg funded mailings that accused Baca of pushing to allow "sex offenders, domestic abusers and suspected terrorists" to carry concealed weapons.

Bloomberg's money in California didn't stop there. He spent $500,000 attempting to raise tobacco taxes in California (that effort failed).

Michael Bloomberg has shown himself to be an advocate of big government and the nanny state in all aspects of his governing philosophy. Townhall Magazine named him "America's Most Dangerous Mayor" this summer, and he's only gotten more brazen in his attacks on individual freedom and choice.
