Kanye is Headed to the White House

Rapper Kanye West is headed to the White House to meet with President Donald Trump.

“Kanye West is coming to the White House to have lunch with President Trump and he will also meet with Jared Kushner,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders released in a statement Tuesday morning. “Topics of discussions will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.”

West issued strong public support for President Trump and his policies earlier this year. He reguarly wears a “Make America Great Again” hat in photos and during media interviews.

"Just as a musician, African-American, guy out in Hollywood, all these different things, you know, everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me. And then told me every time I said I liked Trump that I couldn’t say it out loud or my career would be over,” West said during a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel. “Liberals can’t bully me, news can’t bully me, the hip-hop community, they can’t bully me. Because at that point, if I’m afraid to be me, I’m no longer Ye. That’s what makes Ye."

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, worked with President Trump over the summer to grant clemency to Alice Marie Johnson. She has since encouraged other politicians to focus on criminal justice reform.
