D'Souza: Obama's Goons Tried to Destroy My Faith in America, Trump Restored It

Conservative filmmaker and author Dinesh D'Souza received a full pardon from President Trump yesterday after pleading guilty to felony charges of violating campaign finance laws back in 2014.

From the beginning, D'Souza has argued the charges brought against him were politically motivated and used as a way to stifle his political activism against the Obama administration and the Left. Documents from the case back up this assertion and show Department of Justice prosecutors misled a federal judge in an effort to get D'Souza a harsher prison sentence.

Now, he's speaking out about the situation.

"I did not know. I was just in my office working away and the operator came on the line and asked 'Is this Dinesh D'Souza?' 'Yes.' 'Hold the line for the President of the United States' and there was Trump. He said, 'Dinesh, you've been a great voice for freedom,' and he said, 'I've got to tell you man-to-man you've been screwed. I've been looking at the case and knew from the beginning it was fishy." But he said upon reviewing it he felt a great injustice had been done and that using his power he was going to rectify it, sort of clear the slate and he said he wanted me to be out there to be a bigger voice than ever defending the principles I believe in," D'Souza said.

D'Souza went on to reveal no American in the history  of the country had been charged, not to mention prosecuted, for doing what he did and said he believes Attorney General Eric Holder went after him for political purposes after he made a movie about President Barack Obama.

"These guys decided to make an example of me," D'Souza said. "This was a vindictive political hit aimed at putting me out of business. Destroying my credibility, making it impossible for me to make movies, write books. In that sense it failed."

“I’m very grateful to President Trump for giving me those rights back," he continued.

D'Souza also spoke out on Twitter Thursday when President Trump made the announcement about his pardon.
