Republicans Oppose Stimulus, Then Use It To Their Political Advantage

The latest in this meme is Rep. Phil Gingery, who was an outspoken opponent of federal stimulus money.... before he brought in cameras and presented an oversized check for $625,000 in stimulus money

to officials in his district for downtown improvements. To add insult to injury, the check was signed "Uncle Sam."

“If the Democrats are hellbent on spending an astronomical sum of money,” Gingrey said in a statement, “it is my job as a member of Congress to see that the communities I represent receive consideration for the federal funds that the Democrats are spending, whether I agreed with its allocation or not.”

Sorry, good Congressman. If Democrats are hellbent on spending an astronomical sum of money, it is your job to stand your ground and take no part in the process, even though doing so might be politically expedient.
