Rapper Nelly Doesn't Want to Pay Taxes During Shutdown

Well maybe rapper Nelly is smarter than he seems! In an interview with VH1 News Nelly said he shouldn’t have to pay taxes while Congress is at a stalemate.

On the issue of the government shutdown, the rapper said “I’m trying to campaign since the government ain’t working, we should have to pay taxes”. Although the man may not be the most articulate, he certainly gets the point. He went on to explain, “Because you know paying taxes is supposed to pay for the government which, in turn, is not working. So if they’re not working, I shouldn’t have to pay taxes.”

The man does have a point. It seems awfully crazy that although our government is not working the way it is supposed to, it is still getting funded. That is certainly not the way the American people live. And Nelly, well even though he hasn’t had a big hit song for quite some time, he still knows he is paying a lot for something he isn’t receiving.

“And me being in the upper echelon of the tax bracket, feel that the money I could be saving over these next couple of days could be very vital to my survival. That’s how I feel.”

Continuing his articulate knowledge of the subject, Nelly had this message for Congress: “So ya’ll keep banging.” Well hopefully if no one else can get through to the members of Congress, perhaps those words from Nelly will provide some sort of impetus to get a deal worked out.
