Team Trump has been running a number of ads, nationally and in battlegrounds, all of which feature Kamala Harris in her own words. In her own words, on taxpayer-funded sex change operations for felons and illegal immigrants. In her own words, on the glittering success of 'Bidenomics.' And in her own words, on the zero decisions she'd have made differently than Biden over the last four year. As I wrote as soon as she made the latter statement on The View earlier this month, it amounts to Trump's closing argument, as conveniently articulated by his opponent. With an electorate craving change, as the polling shows, it's a devastating clip. And the Trump campaign is wisely further exploiting the gift they were handed, going up on air with a new television spot that highlights the potentially-fateful Harris quote.
The ad begins by showcasing the colloquial definition of insanity: "Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result." Then comes the infamous clip...

Part of the subtext here could be indirectly addressing a knock on Trump by turning it against Harris' governance. 'They say Trump is crazy, but what's really crazy is continuing to do X, Y, and Z.' If Trump ends up winning this election is less than two weeks, Harris' interview performances, and her utter incapacity to answer anything meaningful, will be looked back upon as a significant contributing factor to her loss. She avoided interviews, almost entirely, for months. She didn't do a single one for 40 days after being shoehorned in as an unelected nominee, late in the game. Then, suddenly, her campaign started putting her everywhere. It hasn't gone well. Which may explain why she skipped consecutive days out on the campaign trail to prepare for another flurry of sit-downs with journalists:
People ask if she's just throwing in the towel.

Based on her track record, it just seems like she's *extremely* nervous about these interviews, and so she does lots of prep, like a mini-debate.
Being afraid of your own shadow as a candidate is never a good sign.
When a big part of your closing argument is that Trump is "exhausted," and addled by diminished mental acuity, you might try to avoid mishaps like this, especially after all the prep:
NBC: Why do voters trust Trump and not you on the economy?
— Tim Murtaugh (@TimMurtaugh) October 22, 2024
Harris: Well, I’ve been to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and … what’s that other one?
pic.twitter.com/a3jGlLG3Qd
And then, of course, there's the elephant in the room, on the subject of diminished mental acuity. Once again, she didn't handle this deftly -- because she isn't deft, and there's no real defense available to her:

They all lied and smeared those who noticed, until they couldn't anymore. Then they nullified their election. As for Biden (Harris' co-president with whom she doesn't want to be seen), he blurted out this week that he wants to lock Donald Trump up. This is certainly true, no doubt, but it's an unhelpful thing for him to be saying out loud, prompting these quotes from people within the Biden-Harris administration:
Noting this could be politically unhelpful to Harris, a former Biden admin official texts me: “we gotta lock Joe up.” https://t.co/juzeUrhM1H

Don't worry, an administration official tells us, he's not really in charge and no one pays much heed to what he has to say these days. The 'he' in question is the sitting President of the United States, whose record is so perfect, in Kamala Harris' mind, that she wouldn't have changed a thing since 2021. Don't take my word for it. She said so herself. See the video above.
