Pelosi: Why, These Republicans Are Dishonoring God With Their Healthcare Bill, Or Something

Via the Free Beacon and Allahpundit, who promptly notes that this condemnation on behalf of "God's creation" comes from a woman who, as a professed Catholic, has amassed a

100 percent pro-abortion rating from both NARAL and Planned Parenthood.  She has opposed virtually every conceivable limitation on abortion over her political career, including measures to ban the barbaric procedure known as partial-birth abortion.  Read up on the grisly details of what that entails, then circle back to this lecture from Nance about faith, conscience examination, moral responsibility, and honoring God.  What a joke:

"I know my colleagues are people of faith. They tell us that all the time. So, this is God's creation, we have a real responsibility to it...to minister to the needs of God's creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us...So from our faith, from our responsibility and community in our country to acknowledging that we are all one family in our country, it is very important that our colleagues not only read the bill, but examine their consciences and look into their hearts, and maybe look into the eyes of these families, and maybe make a decision in favor of what is right."

Questions for Ms. Pelosi:

(1) Does it "honor God" to falsely assure millions of people that your unpopular healthcare bill will lower costs for "everybody," when in fact the law resulted in average individual market premiums more than doubling on the federal exchange?  Does the Bible say anything about lying or bearing false witness?

(2) In what way does massively expanding a failing and unsustainable government program "minister to the needs of God's creation"?  Especially when that expansion disproportionately benefitted able-bodied, childless adults with earnings above the poverty line, at the expense of the truly helpless and indigent?  How "mean" is that?

(3) If we're going full demagogue here -- and apparently we are -- what might God have to say about 80,000 annual human deaths "caused by" the law you're propping up and protecting?  Thou shalt not kill, Nancy.

(4) Since you brought up the importance of listening to one's conscience, can we presume you're fervently rooting for the proprietors of Masterpiece Cakeshop to prevail before the Supreme Court next term?  Oh, we can't?  Just as we couldn't count on you to stand up to your own party's coercive mandate that tried to force Catholic nuns to facilitate the purchase of contraceptives and abortifacients, in clear violation of their (and nominally your) religious faith?  How deeply "honoring to God."

I'll leave you with a parting thought, also via Allahpundit, whose attitude on this issue I share: "I’m firmly in the 'crazy people are responsible for their own actions' camp when it comes to dangerous cranks assaulting innocent bystanders, but if you’re a 'climate of hate' worrier, maybe consider how rhetoric like this is apt to play in the minds of aspiring James Hodgkinsons out there."  Pelosi is a part-time "climate of hate" worrier, of course, but only when it serves her partisan interests.  It might be fun to see how she'd justify her own 'hate-fueling' comments within the context of that inconsistent fretting over political rhetoric and violence.  Alas, if a reporter decided to really hold her feet to the fire on such questions (a guy can dream), she'd probably start calling President Trump by the wrong name and stammering about other nonsense before being shuffled away by grimacing staffers.

Also, while it goes without saying that her approach here is transparently manipulative, invoking religion on behalf of bigger government is par for the course with leftists -- who turn right around and scream "separation of church and state" and "theocracy" when conservatives use faith-based arguments against policies they support.  Liz Warren's "blood money" line still sits at the bottom of the barrel in this current debate, though it's not over yet; some other Democrat may yet swipe Warren's spot atop the disgusting demagoguery totem poll.  Just give it some time.
