BREAKING: Katie Couric Out at CBS News

It's official:

After months of speculation that she would leave CBS News at the end of her contract, Katie Couric confirmed Tuesday she would indeed be stepping away from the anchor's chair.

 "I have decided to step down from the 'CBS Evening News'," Couric told People.com. "I'm really proud of the talented team on the 'CBS Evening News' and the award-winning work we've been able to do in the past five years."

Couric, 54, also hinted at her future plans, saying "I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling." 


CBS' $15-million-per-year experiment started in 2006.  Couric's tenure was dogged by historic low ratings and budget cuts.  A palate cleanser in honor of Katie's imminent departure:



As the story above reports, Couric says she'll pursue other avenues that will allow her to engage in "multi-dimensional storytelling."  Might I suggest a few options?
