The Stoning of Soraya M

The Stoning of Soraya M, directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh and adapted from Freidoune Sahebjam's novel of the same name (a novel which is, not surprisingly, banned in Iran), is based on the true story of an Iranian woman framed for adultery and her aunt's effort to share her story with the world.

The film promises to shed more light on the brutal repression of women and the lack of human rights in Iran.  Even if the Iranian government is still prohibiting international coverage of its brutality come June 26th, 'The Stoning' will nonetheless have reached select American theaters.  I, for one, can't wait to see it.
