Americans Still Want Gitmo, Military Tribunals

Rasmussen Reports just released a poll showing that a majority of likely U.S. voters (58 percent) think Gitmo should stay open. The "support" for closing the facility is at its lowest ever, Rasmussen adds.

In addition, 60 percent believe military tribunals are the right place to try those housed in Gitmo. Remember, the Obama administration's Department of Justice was pleased with the 20-year jailtime outcome after the civilian trial of terrorist Ahmed Ghailani, whose trial saw him convicted of only one of 285 accounts: conspiracy to blow up a government building. Ghailani was one of those responsible for the bombing of U.S. embassies in the late 1990s, which killed 12 Americans.
