A young boy is going viral on social media after a CNN reporter asked him why he was so excited about the Artemis II launch on Wednesday, as NASA prepared to send astronauts to the moon for the first time in 50 years.

Despite the reporter asking serious questions like why he loves space and why he’s so eager to witness history, the boy gave a blunt and hilarious answer: “We're going back to the freakin' moon, that's why!”

This comes as some mainstream media outlets appeared to downplay the significance of the moment, as one NBC reporter appeared wary of expressing patriotism, instead framing the launch as a moment of global unity.

"It's important and relevant to take a moment and say, wow, we should be collectively, not as Americans, not as North Americans, but just as humans, proud of the achievement here that humans have been able to do this," an NBC reporter said. "And we're about to go even further than ever before. It's exactly what they had hoped for, setting the stage to eventually put humans on the moon."

The boy’s reaction to the CNN reporter is a reminder that some moments should be celebrated simply as moments of national pride. They don’t need to be sanitized to avoid offending anyone, overanalyzed for political correctness, or filtered through woke frameworks. This is about the capabilities, the success, and the pride of the United States in continuing to lead humanity, from economic growth to exploring the far reaches of space. Yes, it’s an achievement for all of humanity, but it’s America that is pushing the boundaries.

Rocket launches like this have always been a symbol of American ingenuity, ambition, and unity. It’s okay to feel awe, to cheer for progress, and to celebrate what our country has accomplished, something the left has largely sought to abandon.
