Chuck Todd thought he had caught Roy Moore in a hot mic moment and sought to expose his ignorance of the Constitution. The MSNBC anchor shared the following soundbite, in which Moore, fresh off of his win in the Alabama Senate primary, told a reporter that "rights don't come from government, they don't come from the Bill of Rights, they come from God."
Todd interpreted that as proof Moore was not properly briefed on the Constitution.

The media pundit asserted that Moore's remarks were "just a taste" of the "very fundamentalist views" that led to his removal from office twice as Alabama’s chief justice. He also asserted that Moore and his crazy views are scaring the GOP to death.
It's an interesting theory. However, social media users quickly jumped to Moore's defense, explaining that the Founding Fathers saw our rights as natural and God-given - not something that came from a piece of paper.
Hi, @ChuckTodd. Our rights as humans come from God. The Constitution affirms those rights; it does not create them. https://t.co/FexulvTRsu

Save me. Dear @chucktodd: This statement is almost directly quoted from the Declaration of Independence. Is that "fundamentalist," too? pic.twitter.com/3XPK3UrlQF

Thankfully, Todd doesn't teach U.S. constitutional law in college. But, he does have a dangerous platform of millions of viewers to espouse his arrogant, elitist views.
