Anderson Cooper 'Appalled' By Friend Kathy Griffin

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper may be friends with comedian Kathy Griffin, having hosted the network's "New Year's Eve Live" program with her for the past few years, but even he can't defend her sickening photoshoot Tuesday in which she "beheaded" President Trump.

Cooper is not alone. Several left-leaning media figures and politicians distanced themselves from Griffin's disturbing behavior. After seeing the bloody photos, Keith Olbermann tweeted, "Nope. Too much. By a very long distance, way too much."

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), who still plans to appear with Griffin at a book event this summer, also condemned the images.

"Sen. Franken thinks Kathy Griffin is a talented comedian and respects her right to free speech, but believes this image was inappropriate and not the kind of thing that should be part of our national discourse," said his spokesman Michael Dale-Stein.

Chelsea Clinton shared the following message.

Griffin isn't just getting an earful. She's also losing out on partnerships. Companies like Squatty Potty have dropped the comedian from their advertising, while MGM Resorts International indicated they are not planning on giving her a microphone anytime soon.

Griffin has at least offered what appeared to be a sincere apology, acknowledging she "went way too far." Still, CNN is currently debating whether to allow Griffin to continue cohosting its New Year's Eve coverage.
