Iranian Director Who Boycotted Oscars Wins Award, Shares Statement Against Travel Ban

Iranian Director Asghar Farhadi won Best Foreign Language Film for "The Salesman" Sunday night at the Academy Awards. But, he wasn't there to accept it. Farhadi decided to boycott tonight's festivities in protest of President Trump's executive order on immigration.

Anousheh Ansari, a prominent Iranian-American engineer, accepted the award on Farhadi's behalf and read aloud a statement he left with her in which he called the travel ban "inhumane."

But, the actors and filmmakers were not only interested in criticizing the president's travel moratorium. While presenting an award, actor Gael Garcia Bernal explained that as a Mexican, as a migrant worker, and as a human being, he is "against any form of wall."
