Not So Fast: Inauguration Tix for De Blasio Sell Out...To be Scalped

Bill de Blasio is the first Democrat in two decades to lead the Big Apple. His win, it seems, is reflective of the city’s deep blue political hue. When all 1,000 tickets to his Jan. 1 inauguration sold out, the mayor-elect tweeted an excited message:

Embarrassingly, however, some of those tickets just as quickly went back on the market.

“I’m selling two tickets to Bill de Blasio’s inauguration on Wednesday … the Mayor-elect will greet the event’s attendees in City Hall following the ceremony. So maybe you’ll get to meet him?” said one scalper who was offering $20 a ticket.

Maybe scalpers are taking advantage of selling these tickets for a profit because they foresee de Blasio’s mayoral reign becoming more entertaining than an episode of The Jersey Shore. It was recently revealed that de Blasio’s spokeswoman Lis Smith is dating Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced former governor of New York who resigned after news he had patronized a prostitution ring.

This scandal obviously isn’t de Blasio’s fault, but it’s nonetheless a not-so-great start for the Democrat with "radical socialist ties." Let’s see what plot twist this soap opera takes next.
