DC Obamacare Exchange Grants $375,000 to Controversial Planned Parenthood Branch

That figure, unfortunately, is accurate.

From the newly released report,

The DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority Executive Board today approved grants to 35 DC-based organizations to provide in-person expert assistance to individuals, families, and small businesses looking to enroll in health insurance coverage through DC Health Link, the District’s new online health insurance marketplace.

Officials gave one of the largest grants to the abortion-providing Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan DC and explained their criterion for the financial rewards.

“DC Health Link Assisters are a critical part of our enrollment efforts. The District’s low uninsured rate is both great news and a challenge. There are no easy to reach uninsured people, so we have to be smart, strategic, and creative. These organizations are trusted voices and sources of information in their communities and they will be our boots on the ground. Together we will get the District to near universal coverage,” said Mila Kofman, J.D., executive director of the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority.

The “trusted” Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington has been the scene of scandal in recent years. In 2008, Emma Jean Butler sued the DC clinic for $50 million dollars in damages after taking her daughter to have an abortion. Suffice it to say, it didn't go as planned. More from Students for Life,

During the abortion, the young girl sustained severe abdominal bleeding, severe vaginal injury, severe injury to the cervix, significant uterine perforation, and a small bowel tear. In addition, parts of the child were found inside young girl’s abdomen on September 8, 2006. Because of these injuries, the young girl will be infertile for the rest of her life.

And now we’re awarding this clinic thousands of dollars?

Health insurance enrollment begins Oct. 1 for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2014. To the chagrin of the Obama administration, however, poor statistics like this keep surfacing for the president’s new health care plan.

I guess Americans don’t “trust” this “fabulous” law.
