Despite Trailing, Romney and Ryan Hit New Hampshire

In New Hampshire, the critical swing state where Mitt Romney first launched his general election campaign, the former governor is trailing the president by six points,

Obama won the state of New Hampshire in 2008 by nine points, with 54 percent of the vote to McCain’s 45 percent. The latest polls show him with a comfortable lead in this election as well.

Former New Hampshire governor and Romney adviser John Sununu, however, criticized one survey in particular conducted by WMUR/University of New Hampshire, which shows Obama ahead by 15 points, referring to it as a “piece of garbage.” Sununu dismissed the poll and insisted Romney will win the state with a two to three point lead.

This Saturday, vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan reached out to voters during a campaign stop in Derry, N.H. He stated that with he and Romney in the White House, they could “live free and prosper,” putting a spin on the state’s “Live Free or Die” motto. He is focusing on voters who supported Obama in 2008 but are now questioning their choice. The rally marked Ryan’s second stop in New Hampshire in the past two weeks.
