Chick-Fil-A Sent a Boat to Rescue a Couple from Houston's Flood

Chick-Fil-A was already well known for its spectacular customer service practices, but this might be a new level of excellence. J.C. and Karen Spencer are pretty devoted to their local Chick-Fil-A in Houston, and each morning they call in a breakfast order of two grilled chicken burritos, with extra egg. On Monday, however, things were a bit different: their house was flooded and they knew they had to get out of there as quickly as possible. Out of ideas and desperate to evacuate, J.C. Spencer called Chick-Fil-A, and ordered the usual...plus a boat.

And by golly, the owner of the Chick-Fil-A sent out her husband and a boat to go rescue the couple. By pure chance, the Spencers called in breakfast at the same time one of the managers was checking in on the closed restaurant. He recognized the number on the caller ID, and then set the wheels in motion for their rescue. The Spencers were able to save some of their possessions and evacuate to higher ground with the help of a boat and a pair of jet skis.

J.C. Spencer spoke about his experience on Good Morning America:

A picture of Karen Spencer leaving her house via jet ski had gone viral (and was memed) prior to the Chick-Fil-A element of the story being uncovered.

It's been a rough few weeks for the United States, but stories like these--of a community coming together to help out the vulnerable--can hopefully provide some sort of hope and inspiration.
