President Obama would like for us to believe that he is just a regular person. Michelle Obama had this to say to an adoring crowd:
Barack Obama has been working every day since the day he took office. He has been fighting for us. He has been struggling with us.
Yeah, right. That's what she had to say on the same day her husband flew off to a fundraiser with Jay-Z and Beyonce -- featuring a champagne tower made up of $300-a-bottle Armand de Brignac Brut Gold. Together, the bottles of champagne of which the tower was composed cost $105,000 . . .twice the average income of a US family.
No one begrudges Jay-Z or Beyonce their success (except maybe the President, to hear some of his speeches). The couple earned their money the old fashioned way -- with a marketable skill. But as millions of American families suffer at the hands of the economic destruction the president's policies have wrought, is it not just a bit unseemly for him to be celebrating himself at such an outlandishly extravagant event?
